We use a Verizon Mifi and our hotspots from our Verizon phones.

We looked into satellite and found it to be $$$$$$$.

While satellite internet is available, you will find that it is not very cost effective for daily personal use. Your best bet would be to talk with your cellphone company and get a MiFi Jetpack. All the major cellular providers offer some type of "unlimited" data plan that will more than likely meet your needs. Best of luck.

My research found that satellite would be too expensive as well. The best deal you can find on a MiFi setup right now is from At&T, which will give you "Unlimited" data with a 20GB cap before throttling kicks in. Verizon starts throttling at 10GB.

Surprise

Hmm. I'm really surprised. Satellite is perfect for this application if you are camped. I have it at home and it's 50 bucks a month with 350 for the dish. You'd think they'd just sell the dish on a tripod and charge the same. My cell phone is fine to create a hotspot with ... just seems like we don't have good cell service about 30% of the time... certainly not boondocking.

Satellite in this application won't work "on the move" and everywjere you arrive, you would need to relocate the satellite plus you might need to change satellites and option files depending on your location... just not user friendly and too much cost for the company in backend support and configuration which rolls down to the user. Mix of WiFi and cellular is your best bet.
