Why would the light still be on if that house battery is dead? I started the engine and it started right up but still the generator won't come on. Do I need to jump the generator battery or put it on a trickle charger? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The lights in the storage areas SHOULD be on the coach battery disconnect - which would mean the switch was left in 'Use'... (or things not wired correctly).
From the other thread you posted in - you have an inverter that powers all your outlets - very likely the voltage is too low to start the genny or run the inverter, but still power interior lights...
You can 'jump' the house batteries to start the genny by holding down the EMER Start switch while starting the genny... That is a 'two way street' that connects the house and chassis batteries for starting either the engine (chassis dead) or genny (house dead).
Run the genny, engine, or plug in to shore power to recharge.. Will charge faster than a trickle charger.
