Getting gasoline ready for the winter

We have a 2016 VEGAS 25.2, second year, and wondered what everyone else does to get the gasoline left in the tank ready for storage.

I have 3/4 tank now, should I fill up THEN add a treatment, or just add the treatment with a partial tank?

I have been running the coach and generator about 30-45 minutes at least once a month, but didn't want to drain 4o gallons of gas if I didn't need to.

Thanks for the advice...

I use Sta-Bil stabilizer, use as per container instructions for your full tank of fuel, after added stabilizer, go fill up the gas tank, this will mix everything together. That's it, you're done till spring, store your RV with a FULL tank of fuel and stabilize all of it.

You want to top-off your tank, so you minimize the amount of airspace and potential for moisture accumulation. I use Sea Foam for stabilizer. I used to use Sta-Bil in my motorcycles and lawn equipment and had carburetor issues every year. Since switching to Sea Foam 15 years ago, I haven’t had a single problem with anything.

Agree you should fill it, then use fuel stabilizer. Full tank will not allow much moisture condensation, or at least much less, so moisture contamination is lessened. Use a good stabilizer. I use diesel stabilizer for mine, when I know it won't be used for a period of time, though diesel does not degrade the same way gasoline does, but can become contaminated.

If you use fuel that has ethanol in it: look for a stabilizer that is designed to work with it...

Algae growth is the issue with diesel fuel. It’s a good idea to periodically run a treatment through the tank, throughout the year. I use Howe’s treatment in my semi-tractor and can definitely tell it’s working by how quickly the fuel filter plugs after treatment.

I like the StarTron product for storage. Try it out when you fill up.

Startron is an excellent product.
I've had good luck with Sta-bil for many years, and will continue to use it.

I’ve been using Sta-bil and sometimes Seafoam. Both seem to work quite well. It’s Important to run some of the mix through the generator since it’s carburetor fed.

Good point! Don't forget to feed your generator!
