Golfcart trailer

We just purchased a golfcart and are looking for a trailer. Does anyone have any recommendations? On the cheaper side we can get a wire mesh floor one but I worry about how well it will work out on the highway.

I used an Aluma for mine. It towed just like it wasn't even there!

get a real wooden floor. the wire mesh will bend over time and bumps with a thousand-pound golf cart pushing on it. Mine is wooden and so are most others but honestly, I have never seen one with a mesh floor. The mesh on the tailgate bend in most cases unless it is really reinforced.

Are there advantages to an a frame vs a straight tongue? I have found two near me and both are rather identical except for two main differences. One is a straight tongue and the other is an a frame. The other difference is the straight has 13 inch tires and the a frame has 15 inch tires.

All other things being the same, the A-frame will probably be stronger, more stable, and the 15 inch tires will make less revolutions per mile. They won't heat up as much and can probably go faster (65+) for longer periods of time. JMHO

Better yet: all-aluminum construction will not rot or rust...

We got a golf cart, 2005 Club Car Precedent and it fit just fine on our 6'x8' trailer. Then the wife wanted a rear seat, still fits but you have to back it onto the trailer with the rear floor board hanging over the front rail.
Nice 3000 lb. trailer with wood floor from TSC "A" frame style. Just think about how big and weight rating you might need in the future. This is our second trailer, we outgrew the first one and now I wish we would have went with 10' long instead of 8' long. just lucky the foot board is high enough to clear the rail. Jim.

Jim,
Once the rear seat goes on a full-szed golf cart: 6x10 trailers make it all much easier.

I also recommend the Aluma Trailers. I have an MC210 to pull my Can-Am Spyder and it is a very good trailer and high quality.

If you plan to tow a lot and expect to have it for several years, I would not goo too cheap. My overall recommendations are:

- All Aluminum
- 14" or 15" Tires (I would not recommend smaller tires for any long distance towing as they make too many revolution and generate more heat leading to highr rates of tire and bearing failure)
- A ramp that slides under the deck versus folds down

x2 for the hidden ramp under the trailer bed.
The Aluma UTR-12 that we put the Smart on has that feature, and it is really handy!

Having pulled all kinds of items (tractors, boats, cars, tools, etc) a few things I would suggest. First, make sure that you have some kind of skirt on the back of the motor home to reduce the potential of throwing debris onto your towed items. I use Rock Tamer flaps that mounts to my hitch so I can transfer it between vehicles, I do that often. Second, remember that whatever you're pulling is out in the weather unless you buy an enclosed trailer, which also has the advantage of added storage. That means you have additional cleaning before you can use your towed item. Finally, any time I pull anything I have my rear camera on all the time so I can see what is happening. A small trailer gets totally lost behind a motor home. A blown tire or bearing on the trailer won't feel like much behind a large vehicle. Maintaining a trailer is just as important as maintaining a motorhome. Make sure you spend the money on a spare tire and good ratcheting tie down straps, it's cheap insurance when you're on the road.

I agree 100% :thumb
My UTR-12 has a storage compartments up front, and it does a great job of protecting my Toad's nose.

Has anyone had any luck with a folding trailer? Looking to buy a trailer to haul firewood and extra camping gear behind my class c and see Costco sells a 4x8 that folds for storage.

Golf cart

Why do you want to join the redneck rodeo??
That’s what the chubby folks who cruse around the camp grounds in a golf cart are called.
Walk or ride a bike it’s so much more healthy.

Some of us have medical issues making it impossible.

Towing a single axle trailer

I don't condone pulling a single axle trailer behind a motor home. If a tire blows, you're in trouble. I like a short, double axle.

It's probably just me...
But I'd rather have a trailer with fewer moving parts.
