Scuba, I would think it would be okay to camp around Grizzlys or other bears IF they have their own tent or MH to stay in. Not sure it would be okay to camp in the same unit with them because of their dietary tastes.

I wouldn't call that a "huge" grizzly bear, just a brown bear.

We camped many times in Yellowstone and in particular in the NE near Lake Yellowstone where Grizzly bear signs were at every primitive camping area or pull out.

Never an issue but we were diligent and cautious getting in and out and setting up or breaking camp. Towed a 5th Wheel then and had a very good on-board alarm system (Westie) with us. And we have never traveled without personal protection since the early 60's.

I am more concerned now days about two legged degenerates, but bear issues are real, and we did see over the years a few instances where they tore up cars but never a camper.

The bear was part of their work out. Shake man as he gets hit.
The bear fee was of course a jar of honey.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...
Have I made this clear enough for you? Bears are omnivorous creatures of opportunity. I wouldn't get close to them without being properly prepared!

camping is fine as long as you follow the rules regarding food. It is when you are hiking, biking or running on trails that will get you in potential trouble. In Alaska: Shot gun with buckshot and a pistol with .454 rounds are very popular. They also say your can tell the difference between black bear and grizzly bear poop: grizzly smells like pepper and contains bells.

People forget that wild animals which can easily kill and eat you DO NOT reason the way humans do. They are WILD ANIMALS... the top of the food chain in their environment. If they are hungry, they will take your food... and kill or maim you to get it if need be. Do you KNOW if they are hungry? Respect nature and it will respect you.

Bear vs. Shark

Look it's pretty simple. Camping in areas populated by Grizzly Bears is like swimming off the Australian Great Barrier Reef. The odds are relatively low but you could be bitten, killed and even eaten by a Great White shark while swimming there. Just as camping in an area populated by Grizzly's although low could produce your being bitten, killed and even eaten.

Both scenarios depend largely on your behavior. Both animals are just that, animals. They both are capable of seeing you as a meal. Knowing that, you should exercise caution in their known vicinity.
