Ground zero of Brunswick County Tornado

We’re we’re given access to our RV storage lot today, two days after the devastating tornado. We were tucked in between a Class A and large boat. Damage doesn’t look too bad on the surface but once you get up close it is terrible.

The back window blew in and pushed the full wall slide out about 3 inches and the 3trax are damaged. The back wall flexed from a drainage pipe hitting it and the interior wall is cracked floor to ceiling. We are in the process of getting our stuff out of it and putting a tarp over it. Called Progressive and will wait for an adjuster.

I’ll send more pictures tonight.

Wow... that Class A next to you must have shielded yours a bit.... but his is on it's side and that is crazy.

Good luck to both!

Damn, Jim... sorry to hear that. Were you stored at the Brunswick Beaches campground? Been trying to hear how they fared, seemingly at "Ground Zero" as you described it. They were our final stop trying to get back home in Pender Co after Florence evacuation.

We are just down the road from them at Ocean Ridge Storage. We drove by Brunswick Beaches today and they looked ok but we didn’t drive in. The Dollar General there looked ok, too.

update

First I must say after seeing what has happened and all of the great times we have had in the coach we feel like we have lost a friend.

The major damage is to the back of the coach and the slide. The back wall had such a wind force on it that it blew out the back window and buckled the wall to where the inside is cracked from floor to ceiling. The ladder is damaged as well as the top of the back fiberglass.

What I'm really worried about is the wind pushed out the slide. Both the slide and the topper are damaged.

There is a ton of other damage that would lead me to think the structural integrity of the coach is in question.

The good news is my coach stayed upright. There are upwards for 50 RV nd boats on their side or flipped over. Just an awful sight.

Hope your insurance experience goes smoothly, and you either get very prompt and complete repairs - or a new rig - before it warms up and you're ready to get out and about again.

Jim,
I hope you don't mind me saying that if the RV was totalled: it might be best for you...

This is when you find out how good your insurance company is. Hope it's resolved quickly and you can enjoy camping again soon.

Agreed, that might be best. We had a fridge catch on fire in our first brand new motorhome back in the 90s. At first glance the coach didn't look to bad and we were anxious to get it repaired and go camping. The insurance adjuster kept adding and adding and finally said it was totaled. We ended up with a slightly larger coach and made thousands of new memories.

Sorry to hear and see the damage. Hopefully things turn around for you once the insurance agent is able to go through all of the damage.

Wow! So sorry. My one experience with a progressive claim was very impressive. Hope yours is as satisfactory. And that you’ll not miss a moment of travel.
