House battery connections

I recently purchased a solar suitcase panel for my Axis but I’m uncertain how to connect it to the house batteries.
The solar panel comes with alligator clip connections for the battery which I intend to replace with a quick connect system. The house batteries are in series or parallel ( no idea which) and I can’t figure out where I’m suppose to make the connections. It isn’t obvious to me which is the positive and which is the negative post. Can someone explain which is which?
Thanks

The positive post is the one next to the "+" mark on the battery.
The other post is the negative post.

Assuming you have 2 batteries, if they are 12 Volts the positive posts will be wired directly together and the negative posts will be wired directly together.

If they are 6 volts you will see one positive post on one battery wired directly to the negative post on the other battery. The remaining positive and negative posts supply the 12 volts DC to the coach.

The negative post is wired to a stud on the frame behind the battery(s) If you have two 12 volt like ours you want the to wire to the negative with all the wires ; this will be on one battery, and all the wires on the positive which will be on the other battery.

Exclamation

Thanks for your help.
Just wondering if there is a way to add a box or something similar to provide some protection for the batteries. I know batteries need to be vented but the way they’re mounted in my Axis they’re exposed to water and mud. Mine are so dirty that I couldn’t see the pos and neg indicators on the battery.

You could put them in a battery box(s) to help keep them clean.

Probably easier (definitely cheaper) to wipe off with a wet paper towel or just a finger. The dirt doesn't particularly bother me so long as it's not inside. YMMV. I have to wonder if a battery box would fit in the close confines where located. My auto fill apparatus barely fits and a battery box is a bit taller.

There are 8 slots for wires/cables to enter that style box.
