House and Engine Batteries dead

I went to exercise my generator and no juice. Discovered both house and engine battery dead. I had the battery switch on store and I was plugged into shore power. I now can’t switch from “store” to “Use” to charge my house battery. Why would both batteries be dead if I was in “store” mode? The last time I exercised my generator was a month ago and everything was fine!

STORE disconnects your house batteries from the converter/charger so no charging due to being plugged into SP.
There are usually some parasitic loads on the house batteries even on STORE so they will be drawn down after about two weeks depending on the parasitic loads and what condition the batteries are in.
Some house/chassis battery joiners/disconnects are not too smart and prone to failure. If the battery banks are joined in storage they will all be drawn down; OR, you could also have a parasitic draw on the chassis battery.

You will need to get voltage to the house batteries to be able to switch to USE mode to charge everything up. Jumper cables or an external dumb battery charger will work.

I've made the same mistake too; so, don't feel bad. A good battery reconditioning will likely bring all three batteries back to life.

You gotta be in "use" mode to keep a charge going to the batts.
