I agree, wouldn't have CW put the stopper in the sink or they'd mess it up.
It requires a special epoxy adhesive to attach it & can probably be found at home improvement stores & if you could figure some way to snuggly prop up the sink from underneath I'm fairly certain you wouldn't need to remove the counter top. My stainless steel sink was sagging a couple years ago & is mounted under the counter & I added adhesive & used a large C clamp with other scrap lumber to raise/support the sink til adhesive cured, still holding.
