Hey Fish and Dear...

My wife and I have begun what we plan to be a very slow path to purchasing a Class A MH, possibly later this year...or very early next year. We live in NW Arkansas. See that you live in AR also, and sounds like Little Rock area. Is that right?

And our only MH sales place within 75 miles is in Springdale--a Camping World. Have heard lots of negative comments about them and just a few "OK" comments about them. And about the only MH we've seen there that appeals to us is a Thor 29M!

So, please keep posting about your experience with the Thor and with CW, because we will be very interested in all your experiences with both.

Thanks,
Harv and Lois

We are giving up the 2nd bedroom for a 1/2 bath and front living room. Generally kitchens are bigger in the 5er though we had one with a small kitchen.

OK, I have to go outside to hit the auto-level button. We stop about every 2 1/2 hours no matter what we have anyway. The MH had more bling and more storage. The MH was great for trips of short duration. When south for 3 months or in the mountains for a month the 5er shines. It takes no more time to connect the 5er than it did a toad. Maintenance and insurance is less but cost for us is not a factor. One extra engine, especially diesel, on a large vehicle can often be difficult to find a qualified mechanic with facilities.

Mostly, we just feel it is more like a tiny home than a vehicle to get from place to place. Comfort ~ driving not as much as air ride but as good or better than those without. Choices ~~~ everyone makes them and none are bad.

Cool. Thanks. I agree, different strokes for different folks. Keeps the whole RV thing interesting. Enjoy your new rig.

Harv and Lois,

Yes we live just across the river from LR. Maumelle is a bedroom community of mostly commuters. I cannot speak to the quality of the Camping World near you. I've never had a reason to stop in there. All I can tell you is the one here in North Little Rock is always great. The people are friendly and helpful, the service dept and parts guys are the same. I don't have anything bad to say about them at all.

We signed papers and took delivery of a Hurricane 29M yesterday. And before we left a transporter brought in its twin sister fresh from the factory. The 29M floor plan works great for us. I don't care for slides on the patio side. We wanted a full wall slide, a king bed, and easy access throughout with slide in. We also had to stay under 34' for our garage. From to to tip including a trailer hitch I am 32'

We have a year's experience with Thor with the Four Winds we traded. I spoke to customer service there a few times, and they were always helpful and responsive. I see a lot of complaints about workmanship and quality, but with our FW and now this Hurricane I feel like we are getting better quality for less money than some other things we compared.

Shoot me a private message with your contact info. I'll be glad to share anything I know. And i have reservations at the Eureka Springs KOA for the member weekend thing in September.

Jeff

Reading through this thread has given us assurance that there are many more people just like us. Cons: dealing with the dealership, depreciation, maintenance. Pros: I love RVing,, we love meeting people that have the same adventurous spirit. We had a for sale sign in the window of our 2017 Windsport 29m for 18 months, and just removed the sign. We have fully committed. How many people miss out on adventure while claiming to be frugal? How many miss out on meeting great Americans while traveling in comfort. Enjoy the new rig!!!! #dontlookback
