Well, 54 actually at the fastest by the camera GPS; I think my speedometer said 51.

Gotta love that "blame the victim" mentality.

Regardless of my speed, I had the right of way and she pulled directly in front of me in my lane of travel. I could have been doing 35 and she would have done the same thing.

I just completed 2 round trips from North Florida to Orlando this past weekend on I75 and the Florida Turnpike. If you're not doing 80 you'll be run over. The flow of traffic was 85 to 88 in most places. I had to hang out in the slow lane at 81.

Au contraire... I'm not placing "blame", naming victims OR victors. I'm only commenting on the facts in the video you posted.

I witnessed a near collision, with two contributing factors. First, a driver carelessly pulling into the path of oncoming traffic - an obvious right-of-way violation. HOWEVER, I also witnessed a driver exceeding the speed limit by at least 22%, which is hard to visually detect from a head-on perspective.

Even IF you had been going the speed limit, the other driver was CLEARLY at fault. And... do you think laying on your horn "taught them a lesson"? I'm sure they'll NEVER pull out in front of anyone again!

The speed limit on that road is 45mph for a reason... it's mixed residential. Put yourself in the position of the folks living in those houses. Would YOU want someone going 55mph through YOUR neighborhood in that situation?

Like I said, WHY is everyone in such a hurry?

Seems to be a fact of life now-a-days. Time spent traveling is time taken away from other activities.

The one where it turns out our op was at fault on a number of fronts.
Not hardly. That driver did everything right. That was 100% the Rooter idiot's fault.

Yep. There was a small van to the left. Rooter guy could’ve punched it and moved in front on the coach. Plenty of room. Coach driver was not at fault.

Sorry: I'll maintain my initial view that the RV driver only had to backpedal a little bit on the loud pedal; and give "Roto-Dude" a little bit of space to merge.

What could have prevented this?

First, when approaching entrance/exit ramps (which freeway signs clearly indicate - even with mileages), start increasing the gap between you and any vehicle in front of you. This is ESPECIALLY true if there are only two lanes, and you are in the right-most lane. This is EASILY accomplished by gradually decelerating a few mph... which over a quarter mile or so will give PLENTY of distance between the vehicle ahead of you. The point is to START EARLY (shortly after the 1 mile exit sign) - don't wait until you're right at the ramp then slam on your brakes.

With three lanes, if you are NOT exiting, move over to the center lane. But STILL anticipate those "lane hoppers" when entering the ramp area. Again... increased following distance is key.

This particular entrance ramp was EASY to visualize a potential merge situation. There were no obstructions to keep you from forming a mental picture of the merging van. Even if the van merged without "quickly getting up to speed", you would have time to react and slow enough to avoid a critical situation.

My main point? Driving a motorhome on the freeway is NOT the place for a "pissing contest". Control your emotions - if another driver is doing "stupid stuff", let it go. If you get a tailgater, LET THEM AROUND YOU if possible.

Whenever you encounter these situations, take a deep breath and ask yourself... What's more important, the safety of my loved ones or proving a point of who's right or wrong?

Be SAFE out there!

Yup. Exactly. No excuse.
It's why some of RV'ers can't do the speed limit just like 10,000,000,000 other folk do/have in same sized vehicles. Some rv'ers have to do 65 in an 80 zone.
Why?
Cognition and application. Some just lack the ability to make it all easy/easier.

Our last trip to nowhere we were trapped in the slow lane due to a dissapearing lane.
Very young boy tried his best to merge from a 20mph SHORT clover leaf with only about a two car length merge lane. I slowed to about 30mph and let him in instead of making him hit the ditch. I'd have stopped entirely if it was needed.
He looked very scared.

I made a hole.
Life went on.
I didn't post a video about rooter guy trying to live life.

Clowns to the left of me.
Jokers to the right.
Here I am.
Stuck on the freeway with you.

AGREED! Where has simple courtesy gone? We clearly hear the wife talking about the van merging and our guy replies "It's his job to yield". Yes, he's right, but he sees the Rooter well ahead and can cut him off from the merge, maybe even forcing him to the offramp. Dead to rights. But I'll bet a beverage that he'll be pissed as all hell when he gets stuck at a merge with his 37 footer-plus-toad. The Karma gods are always watching. Besides, his fiberglass "eggshell" is a very costly repair even for a low speed bump.
That said, the Mr Rooter brake check artist deserves whatever his boss metes out for the bad "marketing" video fallout.

I have to agree with Chateau. When the video first started I thought "He's going too fast in a commercial area with multiple lights."
