Inaugural Trip with 2017 Challenger

We are at a nice campground in Williams AZ. Full hookups, beautiful scenery, nice staff.

So far, DW and I are not loving the RV life.

Took a shower this morning, got dressed, went outside. Heard water, went to rear of coach to find water flowing out the rear hatch, driver's side. Found more at rear hatch, passenger side. Turns out the rear grey water tank is leaking, badly. Can't see the source. So no more showers or using rear bath sink this trip. Fortunately the CG has showers.

Residential refrigerator works, but after over 24 hours continuous operation we'd expect it to be colder. But it's adequate.

TV wiring is all screwed up. Can only get the Sony DVD on the outside TV, no matter what I've tried. And while we have three Seiki TV's, only 2 HDMI cords run to the switcher cabinet. Wife is not happy.

It was cold this morning so I thought I'd try out the heater. The smell was bad but went away, as expected with a new unit. But after it ran a few minutes the smoke detector went off! Pushed reset and it stopped, and shut off heat. May try again tonight if it cools off enough.

On the brighter side, we are at a beautiful place. Setup took me a while because I intended it to, taking my time on everything. First time Leveling made us both a bit nervous, but it worked fine (Used manual mode).

Still trying to mount my new Garmin so I can see it without blocking the radio and cameras. But that ledge is the only place smooth enough for the suction cup. Trying some Velcro now.

Pictures of the basement leak. Pretty certain it's the rear gray water tank, though I guess it could be a pipe/line from the shower to the tank.

Unfortunately it sometimes takes a while to get the bugs out. Here is a friction mount that works fairly well, you can set it just about anywhere.

Scosche? has a similar mount to the one Super D provided the link to. I have one in my van for the Magellan GPS I keep in there. It's convenient to set on the floor if not needed. I was in Wally world last week and picked one up for $2.00 on their clearance table. they are usually about 18.00 to 25.00.

Wow, nice grab! I'll check out my local Wally Mart when I get home, thanks.

Sorry you're having some issues Mike. I might be able to help with one of your minor ones.. I mounted the wife's Garmin Nuvi suction cup mount between the 2 AC ducts below the radio. (On the smooth plastic between the ducts) Fits good there and easy to use and see while driving.

I tried, it's not wide enough for the suction cup on my Garvin 660LMT. Thanks for the suggestion.

Meanwhile, CW can't get me in to even look at the tank leak for nearly 3 weeks. Going to look at other Thor authorized service in the Phoenix area.

The suction mount I purchased for my Garmin 770 kept falling off so I used a bit of museum putty to secure it in place! It hasn't fallen off since!
I use museum putty to secure most everything in my Axis. It's cheap, it takes very little to work, it holds well and is reusable! What's not to like?

Odds are it's a loose drain fitting if its leaking into your compartments, if it was the tank most likely just leaking from under the coach. If you're able, follow the shower drain tightening fittings as you go.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge, but what the hell is museum putty? Never heard of it and where do you obtain it? Sounds like good stuff.

We use museum putty all the time. Anything that sets on the counter each time gets stuck on with it. We've never had it fatal.

I'm glad someone asked. I work in a museum and did not know what it was, but I am waiting to ask the guy that hangs stuff if he has some.

We lived in California for a few years, and people told us they use museum putty for nicknacks and artwork, so it wouldn't fall during earthquakes! Never thought to use it in an RV, great tip!

We did an experiment this morning with the shower. DW turned on shower hose and directed it at the walls, I was at the basement door and saw water immediately. Appeared to flow from the side/top of the rear black water tank. Then we let it dry and she directed the water only straight to the drain. STILL ran from the same place. So I think the drain is not properly connected to the grey tank.

Museum putty is used in museum for hanging paintings and securing various objects on display!
Like mentioned above I use it to secure objects on the counters such as hand soap dispensers and my coffee maker!
It has never failed even with the sun shining in the windshield!

I have Challenger and a Garmin. I mount mine on the driverside side window. Fits and works fine. Leaves the dash clear of obstructions.

We/I mount everything with 3M Command strips, all the pictures & anything on shelves that we don't take down are secured with them. My theory is if 1-2 will hold it, 3-4 will hold it better. Be sure to clean all surfaces with alcohol first.

I like that, but want to put my Eez Tire TPMS over there, still playing with the configuration.
