Thor warranty and in shop 8 weeks

I knew when I bought my new Palazzo 33.3 that Thor warranty work takes forever, but its been in the shop at Camping World Round Lake, IL for over 8 weeks. I understand they must get in (which took 1 1/2 weeks) after I brought in with an appointment. to get authorization from Thor. All the parts came in about 2 weeks after that. I needed a new bunk room bifold door that had to be custom made (they say) that came in on Feb 4th. They said I would be next in for service, BUT IM STILL WAITING.I usually do all my own repairs but with the amount of money I paid, I figured they could do it. Mostly little stuff that just didn't line up and work right Is this common with the RV industry or just this dealer. We have had heated discussions several times. Just wondering ???

Have you called anyone at Thor? If not, that should be your next call. I believe you are getting the one step, 2 step, BS step. Thor has been nothing but excellent to work with. The pre-authorization thing might be real but it shouldn't be a big deal. I really do not like talking ugly about dealers in general but Camping World (IMO) has a poor reputation for service.

Like I said, call Thor. Tom Overton has always been an ace to work with.

I agree with you. The most we waited for warranty repairs was 2 weeks. That's including the dealership ordering the parts, receiving them and doing the install. I have even got parts directly from Thor when it was a small warranty item. I just think sometimes it is easy to pass the blame on Thor when in fact it's the dealership especially when dealing with Camping World.

Over the past few years I have used CW's from three different states. Two were not so great and one in Wisconsin was excellent. I am currently trying the one in Ft. Myers for installing satellite dish and w/d units. They don't have a good rep generally and IMHO there are far more "bad" CW's than good ones.

I agree with Kev that the issue could very well be with them and not Thor. At this point I would surly find out.

20 day rule, read the warranty and send the letter.

Thor warranty work

Had the same problem with dealer. I gave up but was having some suspension up-grades done at a local rv specialist and asked if they could help. They had all the parts overnighted and installed in one day. I'm guessing it's a dealer thing. The dealer I bought my 27' ACE from would only tackle one problem at a time and each time they had to get approval and then wait 2 weeks to get the part. I went and got it after 8 weeks and I still get calls from them that my parts are in 6 months later. I'll let everyone know how the suspension up-grade helps after we go through South Dakota which always beats us up.

It seems like they just have no accountability. This is our 2nd RV and both have been a pain in the arse to get warranty work done!

Our first was a Forest River travel trailer. It took months to get the part needed (a new counter top for the kitchen) and then they sent the wrong one and had to do it again. They claim that they don't make any spare parts so if you need something replaced- they have to stop the production line and make your part.

Our Windsport has been at the (selling) dealer since Feb 2. At this point, the work has been approved by Thor but the dealer has not received the parts yet. I assume we are also in this for the long haul because we need a new entry door and a few small things.

why don't you just drive it the 125 miles to Wakarusa at the Thor Service Center and let them handle it in a single day? Free parking, Free hookups, and no run around.

We plan to visit Thor this summer and take one of their tours. We found a local place, RV Renovators to do our work. They only repair and remodel. Much better service.

Good luck

Good luck getting repairs done via Thor. We had faith that Thor would fix our slide (after 4 attempts - and last at plant in Indiana). We are now in a Magnason-Moss lawsuit......

And btw.... I can't help but see all of Ben,s optimistic pro Thor posts.... I wished I had his experiences.... My Miramar was a real piece of junk!

YES the warranty process really sucks. Get a call in to Thor CS. I talk to Cynthia Garcia. an outstanding CS. She keeps me up to date with when the dealer ordered ( or hasn't) requested warranty issue/parts. Thor keeps your warranty items attached to your VIN so have it ready when you call. I like to follow up with the dealer as to what is happening then copy Cynthia. She will call out anything not right. The emails give me written documentation as well.

the problem you've experienced is NOT with Thor, it is with your dealer. Thor does NOT take weeks to send parts to dealers, it's only days. Your dealer is using a convenient excuse to put the 'blame' on the factory... but most will tell you that the dealer is the one with the problem getting the work done - after all, they are a Thor dealer and most certainly have many of the common parts on hand. Even if an order for something must be placed, it is the dealer's own warranty or parts department that handles that timeline. Sometimes they don't even get the parts ordered for many days - they may not even have looked at your issues for a week since you dropped in by... you just don't know what's really happening when you are not there on site watching their every move...

my only solution is to contact the Thor Service Center in Wakarusa and request a ASAP appointment... they get your info, talk about your issues, and have the parts on hand when you arrive. They get the work done the same day, many times... it's worth the time and miles to go there. This means that Thor actually DOES have good customer service and warranty work, but the dealers don't so much.

I have never been back to the dealer so cannot speak for how they work. I have had some issues where I had to have defective parts replaced under warranty and dealt with Thor directly. The outside television went bad while under warranty and after talking to Thor CS they sent a replacement in two days. There were a couple smaller things that went ad and they were just as responsive as with the television. Jim.

It could be the dealer... and yes it could be Thor. I called them a week a go and have had nothing but crappy non-existent support from Thor's so called Customer Care. Two calls and four emails later and yet I'm still chasing answers and service. My dealer support is even worse. Those receiving incredible support are on the opposite end of those who are neglected so that others may receive! I've started to pursue 3rd party services to get my issues resolved.

Living in the area I do know that Thor recently was looking to hire warranty agents so those of you getting good service are very fortunate but by no means is it happening with everyone.

i replaced everything under my 2016 axis myself.track bar, front and rear sway bar,Koni shocks and steering plus .it was in 5 times for warranty work and Thor would say take it to this dealer and that dealer both hour and a half away and since i got MH 190 miles away at different dealer they didn't have time to work on it. man at Thor ask if i knew of any place i could take it and that THOR would work with them.3 miles from where i live is a MH and big truck shop that did all the warranty work that i had to have done and it was all electrical. the longest it ever set was 1 week and that was because Thor had to order part from source. from day one till the 12 month warranty ran out it was worked on at same shop and will be as long as i have it unless i am on the road then extended warranty can take care of it.
