Thor and General RV have been terrific. Again several issues (and we have one more that cropped up on our trip) ALL REPAIRED without question.
We even get a call from General after repairs to make sure they are OK and received a call from Thor asking if everything was OK with our new RV.
Great service from Thor (Ill.) and General RV (Birch Run, MI). [Have never paid anything for service 2 months after purchase...]
Attitude has a LOT to do with it.
We read your post and see a type of attitude, we read others and see a different attitude.
Same dealer, same coach, only variable is the approach. And you won every time and they lose every time.

Model year vs chassis year

Our 2016 Outlaw was built in March of 2016 on a 2016 Ford chassis and sold as a 2016 model Outlaw. Yes, most models are built on the previous year's chassis.

It all depends on the chassis manufacturer and the RV manufacturer.

My Freightliner chassis was manufactured in March of 2019 and it was given a VIN with date code L (2020). In this case I believe the chassis manufacturer set the RV model year because the RV manufacturer would not want to build a one year old (2019) RV on current year chassis (2020).

It surprised a bunch of folks to see a 2020 chassis manufactured so early in 2019.

I guess it depends when the chassis mamufacturer changes from one model year to the next.
Has anyone ever asked them that question?

It is just that If they are making no changes that year, or can fully implement any changes to the product that would differentiate it from the prior year, it can then be sold as the next year model. I remember having a couple Ford pickups that were specified as a '78 1/2, as they made further changes mid-year.

I can verify I am a new RV owner of a 2021 Thor Magnitude XG32. Biggest, most expensive regret we have had. We have only been able to do one night in it. All the wiring seems buggy as it is random and intermittent with what does or doesn’t work. Yet all the wires seem to have proper current, fuses and breakers all look good. So far we have to go to Onan to have them drop the generator out to open it and see what’s going on internally - that was working not working and just not now. All the material cuts seem to have one person measuring with different tools from the next or something so everything is just slightly off - latches don’t meet, cool window slider is lopsided and sticks... I could go on, my apologies. I’m frustrated as today we were supposed to go on our first long trip and the generator can’t be coaxed to at least limp along. Maybe Monday. 🤞

You might or might not find this helpful.
Some to many people here on this forum don't use their generator three times in five years.
With the slightest bit of alternate planning you'd be on that long trip today.

As a plan, to serve us and no other reason, we have an inverter.
My generator uses half a gallon and hour and my v10 at idle uses 3/5 of a gallon.

You own that rv now.
Whatever is wrong with the generator is not common.
Learn to plan for uncommon or sell the rv.
RV is advertised as a lifestyle.
Lifestyle requires life adjustments.

Good luck with your repairs.
If the dealer is backed up or being obnoxious decide if paying an Independant $200 is worth the salvage of your time.

If ANYTHING was the biggest regret of ANYTHING in our lives it would be gone.
Be it basement dwelling failed to start only child, or a monetary loss on something we're not happy with.

Be happy with the rv, or be happy without the rv.
But be happy.

Deep breath... Resell it, resolve it, or resign to it.
Those are the only three choices.

Congratulations on you new coach You need to take a deep breath. Lots of frustrations for lots of folks during everything else that is going on around us. Frustration is function of expectation. You might wish to share your purchase process to get the new 2021? i.e did you and family recently decide to buy RV, and you bought newest you find; or has this been something you have been researching for a long time and this coach was that perfect coach all the way around.

Think positive. Be glad that you found the generator issue before the trip. Cancelling the trip is your decision and you make it for your best interest and that is no one else's fault. I actually have same issue as you this weekend with my still new 2019 coach, but in reverse. My generator works fine, but I can't get shorepower through the ATS I decided to cancel my trip but I could have gone, I took it back to dealer yesterday. I am enjoying other aspects of my life just like I did before I had my RV. Good luck.
