2023 Sequence 20K & Portable Generator

We have a 2023 Sequence 20K with the Reliable Lithium 200 and 3000 w inverter.

All is well when we plug into shore power (from our garage), but when we try to connect to a portable generator we get a Shore Power Faulty notification and it does not work.

The portable generator is a new Westinghouse 4500 W Generator/Inverter and appears to work fine otherwise.

Are these two inverters somehow competing? We have the on board inverter OFF, and we have tried it with the on board inverter on, same result.

What am I missing here? Thank you in advance.

More than likely the generator doesn’t have a ground connected at the generator frame. This immediately trips the onboard GGCI. There are two solutions. One uses a modified plug to provide the ground, the other solution is to wire the ground at the generator.

Google this question for more details.
