LED lights in awning.

The led lights in the awning of our Hurticane 35C will not turn on. Had relatives stay in MH Memorial Day weekend. I suspect they may have turned led lights on accidentally while awning was in so no one would notice. Would this have burned out the led bulbs or should I look elsewhere for why they don't light?
Thanks as always for the expert advice.

If the LEDs are not cooled by convection (moving air), they will soon fail. I installed a orange LED tell-tail just above the switch to indicate when it is on, as it is easy to turn it on on a dark night when feeling for the overhead light switch.

Our awning lights were bad at pickup. When we went out on our first trip, only 1 out of every 4 or 5 would light up. My guess is that someone turned them on as the unit sat on the dealer lot. We got them replaced under warranty but they are a pretty standard part. We have a 2016 35C as well (on a 2015 F-53 chassis.)

Thanks. I thought about a reminder led light near the switch as well, just a little too late installing it.

Since you have a 2016 35C as well I have a question. Mine came with the Seiki TVs and a HDMI 2x4 HDMI Swotch & Sitter box.? Does yours have this set up? If so, I will have just a couple of questions.

Thanks Jim

Yes, we replaced all of the Seiki TVs with Smart TVs (one TCL Roku TV, one Samsung Smart 40 4K TV and the outside one is a Vizio Smart TV.) We also replaced the HDMI switchbox with a true 4x4 matrix switch from Amazon. That helps with HDTV and 4K signals as well as we can have multiple inputs to multiple TVs now.

This is the switch we got: https://www.amazon.com/AVENK-Matrix-...C5J2701136R0YZ

If you pull out the switch for the LED lights, there is a fuse there. My lights did not work when we got our Axis and the fuse fixed it. Good luck!

- I pulled the switch cover when we returned from camping this afternoon. Found the 2amp fuse blown as you had indicated it might be. Your recommendation saved me replacing the entire LED light set. This will go in my notes for future reference. THANKS again!!

Good deal!!! This forum has helped me quite a bit since I bought my Axis. Glad to be part of it.

Beau - can you provide details on how you installed this orange LED? Thanks.

Has anyone purchased replacement LED's? Mine work, but there are a few burnt out. Looks like you can just rewire a new set when ready. If anyone has done this and has the info on where to get them as well as installation tips, it would be much appreciated Thanks again!

If you're buying LEDs: be aware that a lot of them come from "questionable" overseas suppliers... The quality of them can be pretty... HORRIBLE!
Try to purchase from vendors that'll be happy to tell you about the origin of their products. Make sure that they'll stand behind them!

My favorite is TricLEDs.

LED lights in awning.

I replaced my strip from a company called Carefree of Colorado and was a very simple and easy job. Google Carefree of Colorado led awning lights and scroll down to the YouTube video that shows how to replace the strip (LED replacement 2015). The strip comes on a roll and plugs into the existing plug and you cut off the excess between the led lights (a few inches).
As I mentioned earlier, it was very easy to replace and now all my lights work where I had many that were burned out previously.
Hope this helps.

Replaced awning light switch with switch with built in light.

After replacing the 2amp fuse wired in behind the switch the LED lights worked. While I had the switch plate out I popped out the old switch and went to AutoZone. They had a rocker switch with a built in light that lit when the LED lights were turned on. It popped right in where the original switch fit. A cheap $5 fix to save accidentally blowing another fuse or damaging the LED lights.
Thanks to all that led me in the right direction.

Sounds like a trip to Autozone is in my future, that’s a great idea.

Thanks to all that led me in the right direction.

I just learned TWO things and I am really appreciative. I had a Windsport 31S and currently have a Palazzo 36.1. Both have/had the LED lights in the awning. I always worried about them being accidently turned on while the awning is stowed. Awesome to know there is a fuse inline (behind the switch) and that a simple indicator light switch can be used to replace the rocker and let us know if they were left on.

THANK YOU ALL!!!
