Looking for advice on route from East Coast DC area to St.Louis

All,
There seem to be two main routes to St.Louis from the DC area; A Northern Route that tracks via 68 to 70 via Morgantown, Columbus, Indianapolis etc. and a Southern route via 48, 79, 64 through Charleston , Louisville etc.

The Southern Route appears to be a lot more time in the mountains; I have a 32ft Class C. My wife is nervous about the climbs and descents..

I am looking for opinions on the best route for next week if anyone has experience with these routes.

I've done, and prefer the Southern roiute.
But I was travelling on a Can Am Spyder.
Route 70 is full of traffic, rude drivers, and potholes...

If your DW is nervous about the mountains I’d recommend you choose that route. Your coach won’t have any trouble and perhaps it will make planning your future travels easier if you have done some time in the hills.

Your going to have to cross the mountains at some point and there some bodacious elevations on I-68 around Frostburg, Friendsville and into to West Virginia where I live. Just travelled I-64 from Lexington to Charleston on return trip to Texasin our 17 ACE and that stretch is just hilly and no big deal. Since you live in the DC area, is it worth considering taking I-66 to I-81S to I-64? Have a great and safe trip regardless of the route you choose.
