Oops!

Curse me for a fool for not paying more attention when I was going through a toll booth while traveling through Maryland. When the mirror struck it scared the bejees out of us. Thank God for the universal solution, duct tape. Ordered up a replacement from RV Pacific. Oh well, lesson learned.

All things considered: it could have been worse...
Glad to hear that the damage is limited, and a repair should be relatively easy.

Yea, but you should see the toll booth.

Had a almost an even worse catastrophe in our first toll booth - thought I had room but was too close. Thought I put a new pinstripe on our coach. Just "kissed" the side and then back around. Lucky. Since I only go through oversized load gate or go through at about 1 mph. The 1 mph thing upsets those in back of me but hey it is our home and I won't be hurried.

This is a fear of mine. I have only gone through a couple of toll booths so far and have used the right "wide lane". It never bothered me with our travel trailer but with the new class A with those big mirrors I hold my breath and drive really slow.

For me it wasn't a tool booth, but a multi-lane stop light with 2 left turn lanes and 2 go straight lanes. I was in the right left turn lane; the guy in the left left turn lane was close to straddling the line. To my lane on the right was a flatbed 18 wheeler hanging to the left side of his lane. As I approached the light (all other traffic was already stopped) my RH mirror kissed the LH mirror of the truck. No damage to either, not even a mark, but the sound almost makes you need clean underwear.

Mirror damage is pretty common on the big DP's. When we had ours, there were many times the right mirror was just an inch or two from a big rigs mirror as we or he passed. Figure 9.5 feet of motor home width including mirrors, and in many places 12 foot lanes, receipt for white knuckle driving.

Had a "both going in the same direction" mirror accident on my Ford chassis Gemini. My driver's side mirror: damage to turn signal lens and convex lower mirror. Mirror was blasted 45' forward. Repair cost was minimal. Did not need to exercise my deductible. Scary moment. Nancy

Note to self: leave plenty of room for the mirrors, and then add another inch or two!

Glad to see I’m not the only one. Hit the mirror coming off the toll way in Wichita Ks this summer. The exit dumped me right into a construction zone heading east with no options. There were no detour signs on how to return to a westbound direction. With no driver’s side mirror and no detour signs it made for a funfilled situation interspersed with some choice words for the City of Wichita. Luckily there was no damage to the mirror.
