Title problem (year)

We bought our Thor ACE out of state. The dealer handled all the title work. Our paperwork arrived at the title office here but there is a problem. We bought a 2014 but when they pulled up the VIN it says 2013! The dealer is checking into and said one part is 2013 but it is a 2014 from Thor?? Anybody ever heard of this?

Very common with MH... The chassis manufacturer assigns VIN based on model year of chassis... It may not get a MH on top till the next model year.

The final assembler sets the actual model year that should be used on title.

Fix it now... At initial title... It's a problem to change later.

Very common issue, it happened to me as well. The dealer can contact the State/County that issued the title and have it corrected.

Thanks for the info. That makes me feel better. I was afraid I paid for a 2014 and got a 2013!

Same thing here, 2017 chassis and a 2018 coach. Indiana BMV had more of an issue with millage paperwork. We got the dealer paperwork showing 250ish miles at time of complete vehicle purchase. Clerk insisted we also needed a statement of miles on chassis when delivered TO Thor from Ford. Thank goodness for "supervisors!"

We bought a 2016 Miramar from Camping World over a lower priced 2015 because of it’s 6-speed transmission. The 2016 Thor brochure clearly noted the new 6-speed trans.
However, we discovered the Ford F53 chassis was a 2015 with the old 5-speed.
After a period of back and forth discussions Camping World made it right and swapped our 5-speed Miramar for another with the 6-speed. All ended well and we appreciate their good faith efforts to meet our expectations. We will sure be careful in the future to verify what the brochures promise.

It is something to be aware of when buying an RV... especially through chassis based changes like the 5 to 6 speed. From the RVIA info, only a handful of states have to disclose the difference...

The question from a title perspective though shouldn't matter - it should be the Thor (or other MH manufacturers) designation.

Same here. My title says 2007 and the Vin says its a 2006. Which I took to mean the chases was finished in 2006 and the motor home wasn't finished until 2007. KY and TN had no problem issuing a title for a 2007 model.

Finally got this resolved. CW got copies of original titles from Thor along with a letter from Stating this IS a 2014. Ohio titled it as a 2014and attached the documents just in case.
