2018 Vegas 27.7

Hey everyone...

I just agreed to purchase the new 27.7 today, trading my 2016 25.3. This new floorplan is exactly what we wanted when we bought the 25.3, but it wasn't available so we compromised.

I was just wondering if anyone has any news / opinions on this new floorplan.

I think you are the first on the forums here with that floorplan. Let us know how you like it once you get it.

There was a lot of discussion about it when Thor announced it...

Congratulations.

Please let us know how it drives compared to 25.3, and if you notice extra size much.

With the 25.3, I installed HD front and rear sway bars, sumo springs, and a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer...and it drove like a dream. I've already ordered the same gear for the 27.7 and will have it installed before the first trip.

2018

So the brochure for 2018 shows all the RUVs on the E450, unlike 2017.

I don't know about the 2017s, but my 2016 Vegas 25.3 was on a 450 chassis.

So it appears, as long as you are only referring to Axis and Vegas RUVs.

Specs for Axis 24.1 now show E-450, but GVWR and GCWR of an E-350.

My guess is that Thor doesn't update information accurately. They probably don't have checkers to catch mistakes.

I had a weird feeling Thor would go in that direction.

I love the Axis and Vegas. However, I always wished it was bigger. In a few years, I do think Thor will hit that 30 feet mark with the RUV.

One big window instead of the two small windows in the dinette would be a preference.

Overall, the floor plan looks really spacious.

Congrats on the purchase!

Your 100% correct -- it's inevitable.

What's hard to figure is that the 24.1 floorplan, the smallest, lightest, and probably cheapest to manufacture, remains one of the most popular, if not the most popular. Seems marketing never has "smaller" on their radar.

When we were looking at floorplans before purchasing the 25.3, the wife and I debated to get a couch or a dinette. We wanted both...and now we have them with the 27.7...and it is just a bit longer plus it has the slide-out, so now we can haul more junk, lol.

As Thor increases the length of the Axis and Vegas they will gain a new audience. The width and height of a class C and the front end of a class A is very appealing to many.

I personally think Thor is secretly stealing the ideas from our community. We should send them a bill[emoji2]

Data suggest that the width and height of a Class C and the front end of a Class C appeals to a lot of buyers also.

Growth rate of Class Cs has been outperforming As for a couple of years now.

We have had the 27.7 since October.. Purchased from the Pomona RV show. Had a Vegas 25.1 before. This model is great because of all the changes and upgrades.

Nothing bad to report so far but this model should sell well.

Thanks for sharing...to be honest, we were a little apprehensive about buying one of the early produced units of this new model, but it is just exactly what we wanted when we bought the 25.3...that is, a couch AND a dinette...so we decided to take a chance.

27.7

Well since you had a prior Vegas/Axis a more intense review should be in order. When we went to pick the 27.7 up the dealer only had 15 min to review the coach. We were there for 4 hours !!! Check out everthing.

The dinette is not as strong as our prior but we will have to live with it. We still had to get an alignment. However, I'm a much more experience now so I can fix a lot of stuff. The fit and finish has been much better then the first coach but I am still looking for any sign of problems.. LOL

I bought my 2016 Vegas 25.2 back in March, '17 and if I had known the 27.7 was coming I would have been tempted to wait. Now, I'm waiting for some of them to show up at local dealers so I can get up close and personal with one.

Jackldog, my biggest concern is that there's even less basement space in the 27.7 than my 25.2 (36 sq. ft vs 47). I know that you'd end up with more interior storage but things like grills and camp chairs don't work too well inside. What do you think?

When I was buying my 25.2 last March a Thor rep I ran into told me that the 25.1 is far and away the best selling of the floorpans.

Locknut,
The floor plan looks very nice. Can the driver's seat be moved fully back when driving, or does it hit the side of the slide out? I had a big problem with driver's legroom on a diesel pusher because of the left front slide out.

Metalman,

There's a video on the Thor website about the 27.7 that shows a pretty good shot of the slide - extended - and the driver's seat. Even with that slide out it looks like you're not going to push that seat back very far.
