Mercedes Sprinter routine service

To keep warrant in tact, must all routine (mileage based) service be performed by a Mercedes service center? Can any routine items be done else where?

Any suggestions for finding qualified service locations in four corners area of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas?

I've found one in Kansas city but this is about 6-7 hours away. Hoping to find something closer.

At one time Dodge had the Sprinter vans, some of those dealers will still service them.

Freightliner has sprinters as well.

BTW: I had a Fleetwood Pulse Sprinter for 7 years, and the Mercedes dealership I took it to didn't really seem to care about the "time" section of the warranty, just the mileage for drivetrain related items.

Normally as long as the routine service is performed at the prescribed intervals, and you maintain records that the services were performed, you will not have issues related to the warranty. Where people get in trouble is when they throw away receipts and then are asked for proof the service was completed.

I do not believe your warranty booklet will state that all routine services must be performed by an authorized service center unless the routine service includes a warranty claim item.

Elite Automotive Group is a Mercedes dealership in Springfield, MO. Much closer to you . Hope this helps if you have a warrenty issue . By the way, camping on the White River at Bull Shoals State Park near where you live is awesome !

I had an Airstream Class B on a Sprinter for a few years. I took mine to Mercedes once and thought I was going to have to sell it to pay the bill. After that I took it to Western Star. They are Freightliner and Sprinter specialists, selling and servicing both. I found their rate to be much much better and I received Sprinter warranty service.

Western Star has many service and sales centers throughput the US. If Wester Star is not close enough you can select any truck specialist, Peterbilt, etc. Just save the receipts like you will be fine.

We camped at Bull Shoals / White River state park many times in our old 5th wheel. Eventually decided to buy some land on Bull Shoals and build about 45 minutes away. (Prices are out of site right on the river.) Sold the 5th wheel a few years ago and downsized into something that is much easier to negotiate in/out of places I never could have taken the 5th wheel.

Still have fond memories of stepping out of the 5th wheel and wading into the river with my fly rod. Spend more time bouncing for Walleye on the lake now but still visit the river numerous times per year.

Thanks for all the info. Now a fair number of places to choose from. Western Star in Springdale AR or Springfield MO should both be fairly convenient.

P.S. No warranty issues at this time. Just in need of some routine service.

We know what you mean about prices on the White River! Checked it out when we retired. Became RVers about a year ago and decided to stay put for now in Harrison and enjoy the lakes and rivers (and many other cool places) in our home away from home! We LOVED the model you bought but our kids and grandkids are with us enough that we needed the extra room and beds in the Hurricane. Hope you never have a warrenty issue!

I went to one MB dealer who seemed quite irritated to have an RV on the lot. Another let some kid drive it and did $4k of damage to the body when he didn't allow enough room to make a turn in the service bay. I have absolutely no desire to go to a MB dealer again, but will need service. Anyone in Virginia have any suggestions? Keeping my fingers crossed that it wont' need service probably isn't an option, is it?

I am not 100 percent positive on this however I believe the owners of McGeorge's Rolling Hills RV also own Mercedes Benz of Richmond. McGeorge's RV does not sell Thor motorhomes and may not be willing to service units they did not sell. I believe they sell Thor towable RVs and may be considered an authorized service center. A call to them however may be worth a shot.

Myself, I use Safford RV (800) 719-3507 about 40 miles north of Richmond. They are the dealer from which I purchased my coach and have a better service reputation than the others.

I do not have any experience with Reines. I used McGeorges for my Forest River and my coach is currently at Safford for its warranty visit.

Not all MB dealers service the Sprinter. I suggest you look for a Western Star service shop. There are many throughout the country. They are Freightliner and Sprinter dealers and can do warranty service too for the Sprinter too. Their prices are 50 to 75% less than a MB dealer.

Do a quick Google search for the nearest to you. I was quite happy with their service. See my earlier post here.

Based on Phil's post about Western Star, there is the Excel Truck Group (formerly Virginia Truck Center) that is about 20 miles south of Richmond in Chester. They are a Western Star dealer. Thanks. Looking into Western Star identified something I have been missing for a few years. That dealer also services RVs to include heavy alignments. They are less than 4 miles from my front door.

I use Reines in Manassas VA. They have always addressed my concerns, and made things right. I used them for our Travel Trailer many years and now the MH. They are good on their cost and time estimates and the work. Plus it helps they are only 10 miles away from us.

You may want to consider a Dodge dealer that services the Sprinters. I never used MB for service and always had good results with the Dodge dealer service. Below is from my old list of Dodge dealers in VA that service Sprinters. Not all Dodge dealers service Sprinter. Sorry about the list not copying off the spreadsheet orderly.
