Yeah, I thought that the DCON would work for mice? It does. Unfortunately I used it inside the house underneath the Dishwasher. Then I had to get a stick and dig out the corpse cause it was bad. If you use DCON, Don't put it Inside the RV.

I just saw a report on the news recently about rodents eating through some of the parts within an engine compartment. Apparently some of the tape and outer parts that house wires and such are made from soy, which attracts rodents. They sell a special tape to wrap around wire harnesses etc. to keep the rodents away.

Was going to bring that up... Comprehensive covers this type of damage BUT you cannot EVER mention any type of rodent. If insurance asks what did the damage, YOU DON'T KNOW. I told our insurance a bear did it. They had a chuckle and paid out a few THOUSAND DOLLARS to pull out our pick ups engine and replace most the wiring. Just an FYI.

How much do they cost?
It can't be much! After all: deer nuts are under a buck!

Yes, Tom, I found this Cab Fresh on Amazon. Good to know it is at Tractor Supply. I had a mouse living on the intake manifold of my vintage pickup. I took a couple of those tea bag looking Cab fresh and zip tied them to the heater hoses and left one on the floor of the cab. So far, no mice.

The Irish Spring bars didn’t work for me. Mater of fact, the mice had ate all around the 6 bars of Irish Spring I had put under the hood in the engine compartment. Simply didn’t work for me.

I have had good luck with Irish Spring soap. I was told to use the original Irish Spring. Not the Aloe variety. I cut the bar into 1/4 inch thick slivers. I place the slivers on pieces of aluminum foil. I was told it is important to cut the soap bars into pieces. Maybe it doesn’t work on certain types of rodents in different regions of the country.

I usually cut an opening in the large side of box, leaving the bar inside and set the whole bar and box in areas to repel the mice.
Then again, if you have Irish mice, all bets are off.

Bob, we tried several things recorded here and other places in the MH.
We tried this treatment and it worked.
Now we go around and soak the cotton balls every few weeks.
I will not swear by it (yet) but will stand by it pretty hard.
All basement locations and drawers inside the coach.
Didn't have any wire damage under the doghouse last winter but I did find
a TON of acorns chewed up on top of the engine.
Guess what's going there this winter.

Bought the Fresh Cab, Peppermint Oil and Moth Balls. If they make it inside, I'll just make pets of them and teach them to drive. One thing to note...the Fresh Cab states an effective time of about 30-90 days depending on where you put it. Seems an area that air circulates more cuts down on the length of effectiveness.
