Might Buy

I am looking at a Thor Outlaw 37bg tomorrow listed for 99k with 5k miles on it. I have a few questions. After searching around it appears to be a good price?

It’s from a dealer. Any issues I should be aware of and look for?

Looks like average gas mileage is 6 to 8 mpg?

Is it advisable to get the extended warranty?

I will be using it to haul two full cruisers and on occasion up to three dirt bikes. Some limited dry camping mostly with hookups.

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum!
The Dealership will make or break your experience: which dealership are we talking about?
Ask them if it has had a front wheel alignment performed on it.

Good luck, and Happy Shopping!

Check out the service department and/or talk to the service manager to see if you have any confidence that they will meet your needs. Or find a good nearby shop that you can trust. Not suggesting that you’ll have troubles, but you never know. Do a good test drive and, of course, a full and careful inspection before you buy. 6 - 8 mpg should be about right. There are many opinions about extended service agreements with, I think, a majority opinion that they are overprices and have lots of hidden exclusions and complicated rules. My personal opinion is that unless you are very stretched from a budget or cash flow perspective you are better off without one. These machines have lots of systems and are built of lightweight materials - and also to a price point. But they are pretty straightforward to work on and repair if you are “handy”. To a large extent Thor is an assembler of other company’s products and I’ve found most of those companies to be pretty willing to help you troubleshoot. Good luck and don’t forget to have fun!

Bob is right about the "wheel alignment" , however I would go one step further and request a readout where they aligned them. I asked about it when I bought new and was told "yes". However, a year later (and some frustrated driving experiences on our VEGAS) I had the coach's wheels aligned at GOODYEAR commercial shop and saw how out of alignment our coach was. It now drives like a dream...

Also, you did'nt mention the year of the OUTLAW, however, it might not be beyond reason to request new batteries....
