That's excellent fuel economy for a coach that size by any standard.

Smaller American Class As or Cs on the Sprinter chassis with 3.0-liter turbodiesel and 5-speed auto are often reported in 16 to 17 MPG range, so I'd guess your friend is not exaggerating; yet it's twice what I got on my 24-foot Class C with Ford V10.

I just saw this morning that in Europe they have slightly smaller As and Cs for 2018 model year that should easily do 20 MPG if driven conservatively. Compared to an American Reyo Sprinter diesel Class A they are a little narrower, lower, lighter, and are powered by 2.3-liter turbodiesel with 6-speed automated manual.

Yes. It made a difference in driving it full as opposed to half full of fuel

For what it's worth, that's only about 165 pounds of fuel; roughly the weight of a person. It isn't much compared to weight of a motorhome.

8 mpg is about right, got almost 10 for one tank (9.8). We set the cruise to 65 mph.

9+mpg Thor ACE 30.1 Love it after a year.

In talking with Utah State police friend, he says that most motorhome roll overs in this state are due to front tire blow outs at freeway speeds, meaning 70+ mph. They indicate that motor homes seldom loose control enough to cause a roll over when the blow out occurs at 60 or fewer mph. So, having seen the aftermath of two MH blowout caused roll overs, I've done two things.

A. Installed the pressure temp monitors on all 6 tires.
B. Never ever go over 60 mph. My MPG runs 9+ every trip.
C. I climb hills at slow speeds with the blinkers on. I don't need to go up hills in 2nd at 5000 rpm to be running up hill at 50 or more MPH. Easier on the MH and the driver too.

I think running any motor home continually above 65 is asking for trouble "down the road" mechanically and safety wise.

Just my opinion.
