There is a neutral tow mode in the menus on the steering wheel. Keeps it in neutral and keeps the steering unlocked. After hookup I just go into car put in neutral tow mode, takes about 30 sec. Because the hybrid can run in either electric or gas individually, the neutral tow mode takes it out of both and it is free wheeling.

What year is your MKZ? Is it push button or floor shifter?

Turn car on, but do not have foot on brake. Then go to menus. Settings,. Vehicle, then scroll up or down to find the Neutral tow mode. Select, then it will tell you to put the car in neutral. That is when you press the brake and put in neutral, no need to press start button. It will then say car is in Neutral tow mode. Press the power button to turn off. The N button will pulse for a few minutes then turn off.

I have found then you have to lock the doors from the outside or it will beep at you if you hit the lock then close the door. I just close all the doors then touch the 7/8. 9/10 buttons at the same time, or the touch spot on top of the door handle.

If all went well when you look in the car a few minutes later everything will be off. If you open a door a Neutral tow mode message will appear in the message center.

You're welcome. That is what these forums are for.

Here is the link showing my installation of the Blue Ox baseplate and LED lighting on the back window.
