refrigerator

If we leave the RV for a day trip should we turn off the main switch to the RV? I worry the refrigerator will get warm. Should we turn off the switch when leaving the RV even for a couple of hours?

not sure, but maybe you are talking about your 'USE/STORE' switch, which cuts off most of your 12v items, but does not cut off the incoming 120v power, if you are plugged into shore power.

No, there's no reason to turn it off, that's why it's called 'store', such as only when you are STORING the vehicle during the winter months, etc. There's no reason to cut off anything simply because you are 'gone', or are sitting right next to it outside, or taking a hike.... no reason.

Refrigerator

I just want to clarify that we are not hooked up to power. We have our RV parked on our property in the country. We have the frige working off propane, but it still needs power to run.

Yes, you need DC power to run your absorption fridge on propane
Thus, the USE/STORE switch must be in USE position.

So, in your case…for a few hours, leave the switch in USE & run the fridge on propane.

Now, this is why many on the Forum have solar panels to keep your batteries topped-off.
With solar, you can keep your coach in USE for a long-while if you’ve got southern sun exposure.
