Need help with my Pioneer radio... please

Hi all, I just purchased a 2015 Four Winds 31W. It has the Pioneer radio with the camera screen.

How do you see the backup camera only when backing up. Mine stays on all the time?I know there is a way to change it (I've seen threads where people referenced it) but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.

Any help you could give an electronics challenged soul would be greatly appreciated. I have about wore ut the touch screen trying to figure it out.

Mods if this is in the wrong forum, I apologize, and feel free to move it.

Thanks

I found the setting once..... but cannot find it again!
I've even put my 9 year old video game expert on it..... no luck.
It was some obscure camera polarity thing or something..... not just a simple "camera on in Reverse" setting like you'd expect.

I really dislike this radio. It shouldn't be this hard!

You are right it shouldn't be this hard. There is no real logic involved. Very frustrating!
Thanks for the reply.

I sent an e-mail to Pioneer 3 days ago, still no reply. If I get an answer, I will post it here.

In the meantime, if someone has the info, I still need it. Thanks.

Hi All,

Sorry about answering my own post, sort of weird I know. After another 1 1/2 hours of searching the web, I found the answer to my question.

Anyway, to have to have the back up camera on only when backing up:
On home screen - set camera setting to off.
On settings screen - Go to camera polarity, set to battery.
Thats it.

Tried everything and it works like it should now. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Dispise my Pioneer also. I am contemplating replacing it. I will have to check pricing. On mine, I have to (1) hit the OFF button for the camera (2) hit the round OFF button for the radio (3) hit the little MODE button under the OFF button. This is the only way to shut it down completely or the lights stay on all the time. This radio has a really bad sound anyway so I don't miss turning it on.

Thanks Joanie and Paul for your post. It's been a question of mine for some time now.

thanks for posting the solution.

I remembered something about polarity, but not much. Maybe I can remember it now!

Sounds like you finally have this back up camera sorted out--it is a frustration. The owners manual states that the Pioneer's power wire (red) should be connected to the ignition switch's accessory position. Mine, and I'm betting others, is powered through the coach battery; so it is a constant drain and the radio can't be fully powered off if the coach is battery powered--no shore power. Not cool Thor.

28z radio

Ethan, It looks like you and I have the same problem on the same unit. Did you do anything to stop the drain? Re-wire? Change the settings like listed above? I killed 2 batteries and finally put in a negative battery disconnect on the engine. My other thought was to run a on/off switch in-line to the dash, but I'm not sure how easy that would be.

My concern is if I take it in to have work done, they might forget to turn the disconnect and kill another battery on me. I never ran a meter on the battery while pulling fuses to confirm that it is the camera/radio, but I assume that is where the drain is coming from based on other symptoms.
