Gas mileage

I made a trip to visit my son in Minnesota and with the 7.3 Godzilla engine I got 9 mpg and I thought that was good. Not to bad for 35 feet long

We have the 7.3 liter engine in a Thor Axis 24.1, which is much smaller MH. We get about 12.5-13.5 mpg on the highway.

You need to run that across the floor at the Barrett Jackson.

Show me a motorhome with proof that AVERAGES above 10 mpg... NOT a class B van. I'm talking about a stripped chassis class A or a cutaway class C that's loaded for travel. And downhill on ice with a tailwind doesn't count as an average.

The Super C's get 11+. I've gotten as high as 12.5 running 64 on cruise on reasonably level to light hilly terrain. Average on the dash shows 11.3 over 20,000 miles and it's never been reset. Big difference in diesel though.

I don't tow anything, just wife and myself in our 28' class C and I get 9.5-10 mpg. Almost 40k never been reset, and it rarely reaches 10 but has hit that mark once or twice. 9.5-9.6 is closer to my reality.

I tend to drive at the speed limits with this unless they exceed 70 as that is my max but I try to cruise at 65 when time (often) allows.

The only way I can see getting 12+ mpg would be to cap the top speed to maybe 45 or so.

Yes, I have a Godzilla.

2016 Siesta Sprinter 24 ft 65,000 miles Overall average was 16-16.5 at 70 until the Mercedes environmental update. Now 15.5 or better consistently. I don't tow..

E-450 with 7.3L V8 cross-country averaged well over 11 MPG. Exceeding 10 MPG is very possible if narrower and lower-profile than Thor normally builds.

It’s a NON-Thor Class C (B+ shape technically still a Class C). Not towing and 60 ~ 65 MPH.

My 24.1 gets 11+ at 60 mph in louisiana at sea level flats.
The problem is I'm not inept nor bent on impeding traffic...so I don't.

Bill, we have the same motorhome model. We are in Glacier NP right. Drove from Vegas. I got varying MPG readings (6.6, 7.5, 7.9, with highest of 8.7)

I set it on 60 mph and I knew with a longer drive time it would go up. My wife's Cadillac at 75mph going to Minnesota gets, I think once I hit 30, but I know on that long drive for sure I hit 29.9. The motorhome is the same, the last 100 miles it was at 9mpg and I was also pulling a trailer with a 1,200 pound golf cart on it, maybe without the trailer I could have got 9.1, just a guess. I started taking photos of the dash when I got to 8.8, because I never got that much with my old Jayco 32 foot class C with the v10

Shoot, when I go back to illinois on the map it shows it's below Minnesota, I'll be going down hill all the way back, I should get 15 mpg. LOL

When our MH was brand new we took a 1500 miles trip w/o towing and it did 8.5mpg @ 65mph.
That was the only trip we did not towing a car and I guess, because was brand new, was lighter too...
Now towing and with all stuff in it It makes 7.5mpg @ 65mph.

Based on that experience, I believe W/o towing and running 60mph and with good favorable winds 9mph is doable.

Now that I have settled in, I can relax at my son's house. Maybe I'll try 65 on the way home

2015 Class A V10 22K GVWR with 5 speed. I get 7.1 towing a car dolly going from Livonia MI to Concord NC. With mountains and cruise at 63ish. A tad better when I do not do the mountains.
