Facebook groups are sad

I’m seeing so many questions on FB that it’s driving me crazy. New bees asking the dumbest questions and the same question may have been asked 5 posts before. They won’t search. Many are people looking to save money so they buy an old RV and don’t have any idea of how or what. Things like “should I put a water filter on my hose?

FB

FB has a lot of great uses, especially finding places to travel and campgrounds. Also keeping up with family. A lot of knowledgeable people to help with problems. I keep to what is helpful.

Too much useless noise for me.
And if I know anything: I know useless noise...

This thread has danced around the issue so I will say what most who have posted on here are thinking. Some people flat don't belong in an RV, period. They don't want to learn the systems of the RV or are unable too. You can't blame that on the sales department. They also don't bother learning camping etiquette either, we have seen way to much of that first hand the last several years. When the RV pandemic push is over the hospitality industry can clean the toilet, fold down the bed and welcome these folks back to the Holiday Inn.

While I wouldn’t disagree it’s also not up to you or me to decide who should have an RV and who shouldn’t! In addition to being unwilling to learn how to operate an RV some folks never understand that RVs are not cars and ALWAYS need repair. And they don’t ride or handle as well either. My flight instructor liked to say that some people should stick to gardening. Unfortunately those folks hardly ever realize it. Still, it’s their decision to make and we can keep welcoming and helping them.

I agree Pete not up to me to decide who RV's or doesn't. I just wish some would stick to gardening, would make it a lot easier to get into the dump station...

While I agree with Pete (Everybody should be allowed the opportunity to make newbie mistakes): I also hope that they don't experience hostility along the way from more seasoned veterans...
And if they choose to sell the RV, and go back to other avenues of recreation: I wish them well.

This was EXACTLY why I compiled the Axis/Vegas Owners' Manual back in 2015. I had a great dealer (General RV in Tampa), but I could tell be the questions asked on this forum that many new owners did not have the same experience I did. So I compiled the manual to try to fill the new RV knowledge gap.

The question I always used to determine if a dealer did a good system familiarization was to ask, "Did the dealer tell you the USE/STORE switch has to be in the USE position for the house batteries to charge?"

I don’t mind helping tender foots. As for Facebook, it’s the worst technology ever invented. Far too many wanna be toughs and brain dead morons to suit me. The only thing good about it is the entertainment value of seeing just how dumb some younger people can really be. Makes me look back and wonder if I was ever that dumb.

I agree, one can wonder why would someone want or purchase something they apparently know little or nothing about.

If you want to see true dumb-ass-ness, FB is not your best option.
Until you've suffered through a few sessions on Quora, you can't begin to understand what "dumb" truly means.

Do you know they have an army of bots that randomly compose questions? A few of their bots have posted over 90,000 questions and half of them don't make any sense.

I estimate that over 80% of the questions on Quora can be answered with two responses: RTFM (read the freaking manual) or Google It.
