New owner question

When taking a break while driving and want to make coffee with my Keurig coffee maker (110v) do I need to turn on the generator or will it work off the plug with the RV running without the generator?

Unless you have an inverter, just crank up the generator for the few minutes it takes. Every time my wife is able to make her bullet proof coffee while we are going down the road, she says “this doesn’t s*ck!”

Sorry that I didn't see this earlier. You have probably figured it out by now! The short answer is most probably yes, you need the generator running. There are three methods for getting 110Vac in your RV. 1) Shore power. 2) generator running. 3) Power Inverter which changes 12VDC to 110Vac. The latter is not on all RV's and even if it is, chances are slim that it would supply enough power (watts) to handle your coffee pot. On some larger, high end Motorhomes (and you didn't specify what model you have) they may have inverters of ample size, but again, you will have to know which sockets are connected to the inverter.

You didn’t specify the model RV you have.

Future RVs look to incorporate dual “super alternators” so that your chassis engine will take the place of a generator. In that case, your chassis engine would provide 110 volt for your coffee maker.

But current Thor products are configured as with-inverter or without-inverter.

"Bullet proof"?
This sounds as if we all should get that recipe!
