New RV is home

Picked up my 2014 Vegas on Wednesday and arrived home Saturday night. Stopped a few times to break up the drive. Still learning how to drive it and stay quiet within the lane. It will come with practice. Thankfully I had my friend who has a CDL license and camper experience with me to help.

Wow that looks great for a 2014. The previous owner must have taken really good care of it.

Have fun.

Thanks, the drive was anything but natural. It's a stressful process learning how to drive an RV.

Cape,
The Axis/Vegas is actually a great platform for driving and the more you drive it the more you will want to. That is as long as the suspension is working the way you want it to which may take some tuning as they say. I will warn you that if you run into a high wind situation.... nothing about it is fun. Just have to slow down and pay close attention to what you are doing. You'll get the hang of it. We are always eager for another trip with our rig.

Congrats! But your drive shouldn't be stressful. Suggest you find a place that does truck alignment and have your new baby checked before you head out again. The previous owner likely never had that done, and it usually makes a huge difference in the way they drive.

I am hoping, for you, that since this is a 2014, the previous owner added all the necessary suspension improvements by now. This forum has a wealth of information and many Axis/Vegas owners willing to help with any question you might have.

I suspect the suspension hasn't been worked on because it kept pulling to the right. When we were stopped the passenger front end felt like it was sitting lower. The leveler confirmed this.

As others have said, I would suggest finding a good truck alignment/suspension shop, not necessarily a Ford dealership or a RV dealership. Alignment and weighing the corners (so you can get recommended tire pressures) may be all you need. Ours pulled to the right when we received it with 2400 miles on it.

Yeah, the Ford dealer or the RV dealer will almost certainly take your rig to somewhere that works on truck alignment, and hit you with an upcharge for taking it. Be sure you load your coach like you would for travel before you have it aligned. That includes water and passengers. I used some 40# bags to replace my co-pilot, (insert your own joke here).

We took ours to a Goodyear Commercial Tire Shop to get the alignment done.

Thumbs up Congrats on the new Rig!

Other members have commented on how nice your new rig looks and I echo their sentiments. I also echo their suggestions of an alignment check. The squirrely steering could also be due to improper tire pressures, uneven weight distribution or lack of suspension upgrades. I just installed a Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabalizer unit on my 2017 Thor Vegas 25.4 and it has made a big difference in the steering of the rig. I also recommend Ed Felker’s “Thor Vegas 24.1* Checklists & Users’ Guide” V. 5.0 Rev 7. Ed’s guide is the Vegas owner’s Bible when it comes to information about your rig. The checklist and users’ guide can be found via Thor Forums. It is not a printed book but can be printed off of the internet. Ray Matthews
