New Vehicle
I am wanting to purchase a new car. The car I am wanting is AWD the dealer is telling me I can’t flat tow it will have to be towed on a trailer. I see new car pulled behind Rv every day. Does any body have any input on this situation.

Welcome to the forum. As far as what can be flat towed, first check the factory owner's manual. It should tell you if that particular car can be flat towed or not. You can also google it to see the same information.

Welcome to the forum.
The best thing is to check the owners' manual or speak directly to the manufacturer.
Only specific vehicles can be flat towed, different models, different years, different transmission systems.
You would hope that the dealer knows what they're telling you is correct.
Each year there is a "best of" report on towed vehicles from various clubs and corporations, maybe have a google search and check those first to give you an idea of what's available to tow for the current model year.

First: Welcome to the Forum!
About the car...
You're going to have to tell us more about it: year make and model for instance.
And unless your Dealer is willing to lose a sale over a lie: I doubt he would have said what he did: if it wasn't true.
But it ALL depends on the vehicle...

In general AWD vehicles cannot be flat towed. That is because the engine, transmission and wheels are always engaged. So if you try to tow it it will burn up the transmission.
Two wheel drive, manual transmission vehicles can usually be flat towed because when the transmission is in neutral it will disengage the transmission.
Older design 4WD vehicles have a transfer case which disengages the front wheels and lets them free wheel, and they usually have a manual transmission.
But as others have said above, check the owner's manual. I would never believe a salesman's advice for something that can really damage your vehicle if he is wrong.

You may see all makes, models & brands of vehicles being towed flat, but that DOES NOT mean all makes, models & brands can be towed flat as they are not all equipped the same.
As mentioned check the owners manual for each specific vehicle your interested in.

Newer 4WD with auto trans can also be flat towed if the trans case can be placed into Neutral.
Prime example Jeep Wranglers, Cherokees and Grand Cherokee to name a few.

Since the O.P. hasn't been back to tell us which vehicle: there's nothing more that can be said...

This use to always drive me nuts; but a while back The ACE explains why on some occasions the OP may not ever come back; so I have entered into a self induced treatment program. Every time it occurs and an OP leaves us wondering in the dust; I just smile and get a beer. Now let me go get my beer reward for this abandoned thread If you see another thread abandoned; please let me know so I can get another beer

If he does come back I was going to suggest that he starts with Motorhome's Guide to Dinghy Towing that's published every year. That helps narrow the field.
But, as has been said before, you MUST look at the owners manual., that's the final word.
We also learned that most salesman will say "yes" when asked about any car. They are the worst resource to depend on.
