Night time freezing temperatures
So our first time in freezing temps at night on our RV trip to Tahoe. Needless to say we did not do oir research. Only water was connected last night, not sewar. But icicles in the hose this morning. Ooops. So we turned on the 110 volt heat when we were connected to power. The alarm went off, I turned it off and rebooted, alarm stopped. Question should we have grey and black tank heat on when in freezing weather?

When I'm traveling in the winter I always carry RV antifreeze with me and use it while flushing the toilet. Also adding it to the sink drains so some is in the grey tank and I've never had a problem.

At what temp do you use your tank heaters?
Also should I disconnect the water hose if temps are expected to be 33* or 34*?

Temps last night got to 26 degrees! I turned in the tank heaters but then the alarm went off. We disconnected the hose today to wait till it warmed up which it did later today

General rule I use, if frost warning, disconnect the supply hose to RV... More protecting the supply than your RV. If your hose bursts, it is outside... But could freeze the fixture.
I,ve been at campground where the staff comes around and disconnects hoses if you don,'t.

Our routine when traveling in winter, which we do in Dec. and Jan., is: use the hose before the temp drops below freezing that night, put enough water in the tank to carry thru till the end of next day. Drain and stow the hose. It takes a long time to thaw a frozen hose and it is like wrestling a python when you need to leave camp early morning.

We have had a heated RV water supply hose for several years. They aren't cheap but come in handy if you end in cold temps. We only pull it out if the overnight temps are heading down under 35 degrees. It won't come on until below 32.

What about sewer hose? Leave it connected but close grey valve so it isn't draining in sub freezing?

I'll leave it connected and gray valve open... an empty hose/pipe can't be damaged by freezing. There will be plenty of room for any liquid to expand if it freezes.
For the black - be sure there is some antifreeze in the black tank...

So if you are taking a shower or whatever, the worst that happens is a little water freezes to the bottom of the hose, but most as it's flowing and well above freezing will just works its way through?

Yep... rather have that than collecting and freezing at the gate valve.
Also depends on how cold and for how long...
Flirting with 30 overnight with warming during day is probably no issue at all for sewer... It takes a while for a
Dropping and staying in 20's or below - i'd be more concerned and wanting tanks/pipes empty.

Me too on the alarm and having to re-boot???
We do not hook up water & sewer lines until it is time to dump tanks & refill the fresh water tank, then re-stow afterwards... have totally enclosed basement and the AquaHot keeps everything toasty
