No hot water

Hello... I purchased a 2018 Thor Ace 30.2 last October and cannot get water heater to work. Tank is full, hot water lines are cool, triple checked valves, checked breakers, GFI outlet, and fuse. Did I miss anything? Called dealer and they cannot squeeze me in until July. Can anyone provide any ideas. BIG THANKS....

Have you checked your panel to see if you turned on your electric rocker switch?

If you have a hot water tank that has a bypass valve, make sure it is set the proper way. Welcome to the forum.

Yes, rocker switch is on along with other switches. Thanks for your reply (still trubleshooting).

One time I could not get mine to work either ..... and every thing was on / set correctly so I went outside - open the HW tank cover and flipped the switch off.... waited 10 sec. then back on .... then it worked fine. Ever had a problem since.

Try "resetting" but turning off and on after you verify everything else gas is on, no fuses blown, HW tank thermostat was set correctly and no error messages etc.

If your water heater is an Attwood/Dometic propane and electric model, it may very well have a bad circuit board. Mine was working on electricity, but propane would not light. Problem was traced to a defective board. Technician showed me where it was bulging on the back side. He advised it was a known problem and that the manufacturer may be doing a recall on the boards.

In another recent thread, an Axis owner had a similar problem except both the fridge and hot water heater stopped working. Turns out that both were plugged into the same fuse and the problem was the connector where the two systems plugged into the 12V line between the fuse and the fridge and hot water heater. If the fuse is good and you do not have 12v power at the hot water heater board, then it is probably a line or connection. If you have 12v power at the hot water heater board, then it is probably the board. Easy to check with a 12v meter.

We just put in an inverter and worked on the OEM converter/breaker panel. Afterwards our powered antenna would not work, then work again. Checked fuses, they were good. Finally found the 12v wire was broken right at the screw down in the fuse panel. Would make connection if the wire was JUST right and touching the connector. About never found it as all connections "looked" good. Checked ALL 12v wires after that.

In a Class C that I bought new, during the trip back to Florida from Indiana one of the main $15 fuses in the engine compartment kept blowing cutting out my radio, backup camera and some lights. I took it to two Ford dealers who could find nothing wrong. Took me a month to figure out that someone had put a screw thru a 12V wire that ran up the window frame. When the coach flexed just right the screw would momentarily hit the frame shorting the wire and blowing the fuse. I’d replace the fuse and it would be fine for another hundred miles when it would happen again. I seriously thought about taking the coach back to Indiana. Little things like that drive you crazy.

HALLELUJAH!!! My hot water heater problem is solved. I found corrosion on the wiring. After cleaning wires the water heater fired right up. Not sure how a brand new RV would have corrosion problem. Thanks to everyone who replied to my problem. Now I have a happy wife and I have a happy Life :-)

Congrats on finding the problem! One day when you're feeling ambitious, you might want to take those connections apart, clean them up again, and apply some dielectric grease to the conductors before reinstalling them. It's pretty easy for water to get to that wiring, resulting in corrosion.
