Temperature and road ice

Don’t be fooled into thinking above 32⁰F means no ice and below 32⁰F equals ice. Black ice can live (for a while) at higher temps and on a dry clear road you can zip along well below 32⁰F. Better to pay attention to road conditions then to temperatures. Fresh rain mixed with road dirt and oil residue can be as dangerous as ice.

Why is everybody getting so nervous?
It's simple: If the temperatures are forecast to be down near freezing: just assume the worst, and prepare your best for it!

We use two wireless tempature transmitters, one outside on the rear wall, the other inside the refrigerator. The monitor is small enough to have on the console. I would not use it to predict black ice. Once on the Oklahoma Turnpike traffic was at 70 mph when a tandum trailer fedex truck passed us then started swerving. We all made it, but traffic slowed down to 20 mph for the next 50 miles with black ice.

[QUOTE=OldWEB;213073]This whole thread is full of funnies, from the grammer/spelling errors to the temp gauge stuck on a heated mirror.... All in a good laugh I guess.

If I dont laugh I'll cry with all the problems we've had with our Axis...comedy of errors 😓😓😓😓 Sometimes it is hard to have fun. Just got it back after 4 weeks having new door and lock installed after lock fail and trapped in for 5 hours...campers,Ranger,locksmith,Fire,Police couldnt get it open. Finally pry bar...ouch...We will never lock the door again.☹☹☹☹☹☹

I've always thought locked inside was a screwdriver fix.
How isn't it a screwdriver fix?
How did the fire department not get you through one of the windows if you wanted out?
I'm pretty sure, but untried, that my overhead bed ladder will hang right onto the passenger front side window.

What other problems have you had?

Believe me...no screwdriver fix...we did crawl out window but had to tie door closed for 4 hr. trip home.A reciprocating saw we wish we'd had.

I'm going to take my door lock apart tomorrow just for the practice.
If it's not a screwdriver fix now, I'll modify it all until it is.

Can’t you just use your phone to see the temperature and weather?

I dont know about yours but the class a dp on a freightliner chassis if they dont already have one, can be added as the harness is already installed just have to add the sensor and change a setting in the ecm to enable temp sensor and it will display on the dash.
