Ours did the same thing. Our AC intake was super dusty. Vacuumed it off and it was fine after that!

I had this issue a couple years ago. Too much oil. Turns out The oil dip stick is marked incorrectly. I had to removed oil. Haven't had the issue since.

Check your generator manual, I found mine had lots of junk in spark arrestor, not many hours on it. It seems to me to be a regular maint thing.

I had the the same issue. There was a run of Gen. that had a bad fuel pump.
They would run as you stated 1.5-2.0 hrs. and shut down.
Onan replaced under warranty.

This happened to me a couple months ago while exercising my Onan 4000. I did a lot of checking and then noticed a wire that wasn't connected to anything. I held the connector end of the wire to some metal and it started right up. It was a ground wire that had come loose. I reached down into the pan below the generator and found the screw and reattached to the obvious place where it was previously attached. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. Still dying after an hour or so? What next?

Did it show any codes when it shutdown? Does it start right back up?

How old is the genset? I may have missed it, how many hours are on it?

Yes fault code 36. Lol shut down on it's own lol. Flushed with seafoam still will run for about an hour then shuts down. I 66 hours on it

Haven't replaced oil yet. It ran fine. This just started happening, unless it grows oil don't think too much oil would be the problem

Well as I stated previously that there was a run of fuel pumps that were having an issue of when they heated up after about an hour to an hour and a half there is what I will call a release value on the pump. It opens and fuel leaks out and the gen shuts down. There is a recall on the pumps.
Go to a qualified Onan Cummings service center and they can look it for you.
You most likely will get a pump at no cost. I did and they footed the install.
You can't fix a manufactured defect.
