Onboard air compressor output

Hey there,

We have a Tuscany 40 DX with a Cummins / I6 Diesel Pusher. The engine is a
6 cylinder with 450 hp @ 2,100 RPM

We are trying to learn if the onboard compressor puts out enough air to fill the tires on the RV wheels or should we invest in a standalone compressor.

Thanks for you helpful responses.

There should be an accumulator tank (pressure vessel) everything operates from. Air brakes, air starters, etc, do not run directly off the compressor but from this tank. Often, they will have an air valve built in or you could have it modified for one by welder that's certified to weld on pressure vessels. Commercial trucks do and we would use those with a hose to air tires on the road. Our gas tankers had air starters instead of electric...(spark issues in the loading terminals). If the air had leaked down overnight we could fill the tank from another tractor with this system.

Yes the on board air pressure is adequate to air the tires (will air up to 115 psi). You will hear the compressor kick on and the engine idle increase as the pressure in the tanks drop, but it airs without any issue

you'll have no problem, as the onboard PSI easily exceeds any psi you need for your tires, since the tires, with a fully loaded coach, psi levels are probably only going to be in the 90-95 range for the smoothest ride, per your tire manufacturer's load weight psi chart.

I use ours all the time, and certainly don't need to carry around an additional air compressor - I have an industrial one already paid for!
