Outlaw Class A for 2017?

I really like the Outlaw Class A, especially the 37LS. Only issue I have is the lack of living space compared to other Class A floor plans. Other Thor Class A's seem to utilize the same space nicely. So I got out the photoshop and had some fun. As a thought experiment, I modified a 37LS floor plan. I'm sure I violated every design no-no in the book. I'm not an RV Engineer. I just know what I'd like to see. It might end up being cost prohibitive to manufacture... who knows. Still fun to dream. If there's enough interest, I may do a 3D model (interior and exterior) of it.

Any thoughts? You like, tell Thor.

Yes, I'm working on it. Had to take care of family medical issues down at the UCLA hospital past few weeks. Domain name reg expired while I was gone. My bad.

In the meantime, just go here for the pics: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...t=folder%2cJPG

Thank you for your interest!

Yes, I'll get the site back up again. Had family business out of town for the last few weeks. Domain Reg expired.

In the mean time, check this link:

I've often thought it would be fun to be able to order semi custom RV's... working with the manufacturer on the design/layout.
It sure does seem that the designers don't use their products many times....

take a look at this for further inspiration

There are several companies from Prevost based builders to the boutique builders of very common RV styles very near Elkhart that will work with the buyer to customize a new coach...and these all share on thing in common - high price.

TMC is a different business model - building a RV that sells well without custom customer input and with most all option included = better price point.

Me and my wallet like TMC's method better

There are some manufactures that will do some modifications without it costing an arm and a leg. Tiffin is one that comes to mind.

They allow their workweek to do after hour modification using Tiffin equipment. If I remember correctly you pay the workers time and Tiffin for any materials they use. It has to be approved ahead of time but it's a win win for everyone.

Some things they will do especially if it's done on one of the subassembly lines and not the main production line. Changing out a piece of furniture or equipment or modifying a cabinet comes to mind.

So it can be done it just takes the will to do and good planing. I for one am willing to pay for some custom mode that are better done during the initial build.

I'd like to get some CAT cabling run to various location such as the roof and HDTVs along with some conduit for adding solar and twoway radios cables to the roof. However if I can't I'll figure out a way to do it later.

well yes, of course
But I'm not really meaning High End stuff....
more even quality, but just tweaks in lay out.... maybe adding a bit of wiring here or there....
or maybe even more of a modular construction concept...
I like this bathroom module with that dinette module, and the other kitchen module....
very limited stuff beyond picking one of these two color schemes....

I know it's not gonna happen, just something to dream about
it would be a win for the customer
and maybe a win for the manufacturer who could benefit form the good ideas....

Several of the concepts above are exactly what Newmar and Tiffin will entertain...for customer customization. These are the boutique builders I mentioned. They make only a fraction of the RV's made by companies like TMC, Forest River, Jayco and Winnie.

And, I submit that the 40% higher (average) price that you will be looking at with these brands IS unreasonable. That's just personal opinion.

The real problem that the buyer will encounter when trying to make the final price deal at the retail store is...once you put together the custom order and get a preliminary factory approval of the concept (done at a dealership)...the only way to barter a better price below MSRP is to leave the first dealership and go to another dealer...then attempt to play dealers off each other. This reportedly can work, but I am skeptical.

If you are willing to pay the difference, more power to you. I am not.

I have done my mods, including wiring, by DIY and the aftermarket.

Like I said earlier...me and my wallet much prefer TMC's business model.

Safe travels
