Smile Need a De-Winterizing Video for 2017 Freedom Elite

Hi everyone. We are newbies and are wondering if there is a video or exact step by step instructions for de-winterizing our 2017 Thor Freedom Elite 22F Class C. We have a general idea of what has to happen, but we really want to make sure we do everything correctly and in the right order. Can anyone help?

Hello, Replying to your question is not as easy as it sounds. There are several ways to winterize your rig. That determines which way to de-winterize. I would flush your fresh water tank and and lines with fresh water. Check for leaks! If you don't see any make sure the fresh water pump does not cycle. If it does, You have a leak somewhere. Check batteries for condition and water level. Run everything to see if all is still working. Then camp in your yard because everything is closing around the country! good luck.

Thank you. It's hard to visualize if you have never done it before so I'm still uncertain. We used antifreeze to winterize so we would need to flush the lines but since the RV dealership did the winterizing, we did not watch how they did it. Thus, I'm still hoping for a video so that I can get a visual. Have a blessed day and stay safe!

You might start by asking the dealer to explain to you how they winterized it. Someone there should be able to tell you.

There are four things that you will need to determine.

1. Do you have a whole house water filter and if so where is it located?

2. Where is the water heater bypass?

3. How was the freezer's ice maker and water dispenser (if equipped) winterized?

4. Does the coach's fresh water system need to be sanitized?

1. We will be using disposable filters
2. Under the bench seat
3. Ice/water dispenser N/A
4. I believe it needs to be

Our issue is doing this for the first time. I have yet to find a how-to video for a 2017 Thor Freedom Elite Class C. I'd like to have a picture in my head of how to do things rather than just have verbal instructions. Be safe!

Can’t help with video, but based on your answers it isn’t difficult.

With no whole house filter, no ice maker...

- Leave everything as it is and hook up to city water.
- open each water faucet (shower, toilet, outside shower, etc) hot and cold until no more pink stuff (the technical term for RV antifreeze )
- place water heater plumbing to ‘normal’ mode: close the crossover valve and open the in and out valves.
- open a hot water faucet until the water heater fills

You are de-winterized...

There are threads I’m sure on sanitizing... a little bleach in the fresh water tank with a lot of water. Run through each faucet.
Drain tank, flush tank and lines with lots of fresh water.

Simple search on You Tube for "De-winterizing an RV Water System" produced the following.

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...+water+system+

Are any specific to your particular RV, I don't know.

Pick one or two, watch and learn. They all basically discuss the same points others have already stated.

"Welcome to the new world! I use a checklist app from Google Play called Adventure Treks. A pre-populated, but fully customizable, series of checklists for everything from departure preparation, to set-up, to winterizing & de-winterizing, frequently replaceable parts list, etc., etc. Do the research on You Tube and the manuals (or on-line manuals) for your unit and add to the list at will. It has saved me from mistakes and forgotten items many times."
