Question Plugged into 120 AC 24/7

I gave my Hurricane hooked up to 120 AC with my test meter showing 119 AC voltage. Does it do any harm, maybe to the batteries, if I leave it plugged in 24/7???

Ours has been plugged in 24/7 for almost 2 years now, and the batteries are in great shape!!! Also, our tech told us to run the fridge continuously, because it will extend it's life, so we do.

Just check the batteries periodically to make sure the electrolyte level is correct and you shouldn't have a problem. Mine is constantly plugged into the side of the house when we are not travelling and has stayed plugged in running off the 20KW whole house during a couple of power failures. I do have it plugged into a surge protector to prevent potential problems during storms and outages.

Dave,
I will be having a 30 amp shore line put in at the house for 24/7 hookup. I was wondering about the surge protector and the fridge...both have answered on the posts above.

Has anyone found brand of portable ceramic or electric heaters that has a thermostat that will allow a setting below 60 degrees?

Doc mine has a freeze setting to keep the temp at about 35. Bought it at Lowes 2 years ago. I usually set it at 40. Traveling so I can't get the particulars

Found one at Lowe's Hardware, $62.98 with freeze setting at 44 degrees.

Thanks

Lesson learned

I installed 30 amp and then a couple years later paid to upgrade to 50 amp

Do 50 amp and then adapt down to 30. Cheaper in the long run.

The above was written on my iPhone while waiting for a flight out of Chicago.

The point I tried making is if you are going to add shore power to your house I suggest going with 50 amp and then getting a 50 amp t 30 amp dog bone adapter. I originally installed 30 amp at 300.00 and then when I got the Challenger and upgraded to 50 amp so I could run both AC units it cost me 350.00. If I had originally done 50 amp and purchased the adapter I would be in for around 400.00 instead of 650.00.

As I said, it is a lesson learned.

Going back to DocMike comment regarding the ceramic heater. I am a newbie to owning a MH so please bear with me. Why the ceramic heater if you blow out the water lines, empty the hot water heater and winterized the toilets?

Brakman,

We want to use the unit during the late fall and into the winter months. Around here in NC severe winter is limited, so trying to keep unit available as much as is possible...maybe even thru the entire winter.

FYI: I got the smaller heater for just $41.00 plus change with my Military Discount at Lowes.

All,

Just finished with the installation of a 30 amp RV shoreline for the Vegas.

Parts ran right at $225.00 (had to run 125 feet of 10-2 line, that was the lion's share of the cost). We plan to remodel (rebuild is more like it) the garage in a couple of years so I'll run 50 amp service in there.

The ceramic space heater has a 45 degree freeze setting. Fom earlier Posts above I believe I will be using my surge protector and keep the fridge on. Any other suggestions?
