Power Post: Useing more than one plug

I have never seen this question before and was just wondering:

When I setup, I plug in my 50amp and then I plug in a 120 cord to the 120 plug and run this to my outdoor table where I plug in different electric cooking items like a griddle, coffee pot and other items.

My friend thought I was doing something wrong and that the CC might complain. Is it wrong to use more than one outlet on a power post?

I'm not exactly an expert in the RV world, but in the marina world, it is very common to use multiple plugs. The one caveat, don't block off access to power for your neighbor if the power pedestal is shared.

Most of the campgrounds I use, the pedestal is not shared with another campsite. With that said, I always do that and have for many years.

Although I have an outside plug on my RV, I find it will trip the circuit in my coach when my wife is using her hair blower with the curling iron on. Run a 25' power cord to the 110 on the pedestal, plug in your electric grill and your good to go.

What you are doing is totally acceptable.

I do the same. Some Campgrounds say one cord only. I see no problem as long as that second cord does not power anything inside of the RV.

I'm sure before long, some EE will be along to give everyone additional information befitting a doctorial dissertation about grounds, hots, neutrals, and phases and dangers therein.

When I take along my C-Max the 30A plug goes to the RV and the 50A plug goes to charge up the car. So far haven't received any complaints.

(I did have a campground breaker trip but it wasn't the extra current from charging my car--it tripped again later after I had unplugged the car.)

I've done it for years, especially if only a 30 amp plug in is available. I have a separate 15a-20a plug for running my residential refrigerator, convertor and separate freezer so I can run both my ac's off the 30 amp plug.

There is nothing wrong with using all of the connections on that power post. They are all routed through the same meter and designated to your site.

Not a problem. I use both the 50 and 30 amp outlets, to power the coach and the second AC.

I use the second outlet for my water bay space heater.

We use the 15A (or 20A) outlet for our heated water hose when needed.

I was wondering how those get hooked up. I don't have an outlet in my water bay for a heated hose.

Using the power pedestal is the best way if it is available, sometimes we have had to plug it into the 110V outlet on the side of the RV (which adds to the amp draw on the 50A or 30A leg.)
