Propane Leak - Lesson Learned

While outside of my MH talking with neighbors, our gas detector sounded. As I entered the MH, the leak was very noticeable in the kitchen. We immediately open the door, vent, and windows.

While we did not use the stove that day, I noticed that two of the dials on the propane stove were slightly turned on. In trying to determine how the dials could turn on, with out turning on by hand, we determined...
While leaning against the stove as if to reach the microwave above, the pressing against the dials and twisting action resulted in the dials partially open.

My reason for sharing is to add another item to our safety check. Double check propane gas dials even when the stove has not been used. We are thankful for learning this lesson.

If you don't use your stovetop often or travel with kids, you can remove the plastic handles from the valve posts and store them in a drawer.

I think that I should lose some weight: my "belt buckle" keeps snagging those troublemakers!
Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah, on the door handle to the bathroom in my 34f? With the slideout not extended, the height is 'all wrong'. AND if I turned around to get in the bathroom, a belt loop would get caught in the towel rack. What to do? I took off the door handle there and cut out the lower part of the rack then put it up higher. Then the handles for the french doors to the washer/ dryer and Towel stowage? Caught a belt loop on those too until I relocated them higher up. Oh yeah, somehow in the make up of my RV, a false wall was extended out about 6 inches to hide the slideout door to the bedroom, which came off the track more than once. And those sliding doors ended up being taken out too, along with that extra 6 inches cause I didn't like it being there either. Much more room now and the belt loops don't get caught as much.

Why don't you just leave your pants off?

..And make a solemn vow to NEVER get stopped by the Police!

similar thing happened to us once...but it was our youngest, pretty young at the time apparently thought the knobs were a toy.
Even though they are older now, i still wish there was an easy shutoff valve at the stove...I'd just leave it off most of the time.

Totally tubular man! Think I'll get get a pair of baggies that don't have a drawstring, so after we park the RV in the lot next to the beach, we can take the board down off the car an SURF!, then I could live on the beach dude. I'm not that young either, but I did stay in a (fill in the blank, motel here) for a couple of weeks in Key west a long time ago.

Yeah, I felt so good about 'that' part of my life in my past, that my wife and I flew down there for a week two years ago .... and now both of us dream about going back. Good for us we can stay on the base and buy stuff there. Oh yeah, they have some RV parks on and off base there.

Ahh, if you stay on one of the bases there, you look out to the sides of the entrance road and you won't see a place to pull over. The road there is only about, maybe half a foot higher than the water too. They cover up the oddity there with a lot of bushes that live in the sea water next to the road. but sometimes folks get in the water anyway, has to do with the alcohol most times. A long time ago I thought to myself, "can't be that big, I'll just run around the perimeter of that base. 1 1/2 hours later and I was convinced not to do it again. But it does have an RV park there, with a restaraunt near the beach & awesome sunsets, not as good as Mallory park in downtown Key west, but awesome none the less. Lots of overseas people coming there too.
