I agree with Popfla. We use plastic crates to store items under the benches so nothing can slide around and damage wires.
I removed the forward main dinette bench primarily to allow the passenger seat in the cab to recline. I replaced it with nice wooden folding chairs. This does eliminate that storage possibility and the use of the dinette as a bed, but we were willing to sacrifice those to make the passenger seat more useable.
