What about service

Just a newbie here thinking about getting a class c in a couple years when I retire... but from all the problems I read about that need sorting after buying new... wouldn’t it be a better idea to buy from a nearby dealer, so you can take it back easily? Seems like that would be worth a couple k premium if necessary.
Won’t the dealer order you the coach you want?
I really like what I’ve seen of the Leisure Travel brand, but the closest dealer is 300 miles away. A Thor dealer is just around the corner from me... which is why I’ve been browsing this forum....

That would depend on how good the dealer is (along with how good their service dept is).

Of the 4 A class coaches we've had, only 1 was new and, to be honest, gave us the most bother. The other 3 were 2/3 years old, well under 20k miles and, as well as a few extras being fitted, gave no problems whatsoever. Our latest, a Vegas, will probably be our last and we're very happy with it. An old RV saying is 'buy you third RV first.....'
Good luck and happy travels to ya' from Ireland

Update: I am a SOB

Sorry about the delay but we have spent last few days traveling 1200 miles in our new RV. We flew to West Palm Beach Tuesday from Dallas and they La Mesa RV picked us up. The dealership was awesome throughout the process. We finished our checklist and found only a few minor items, they fixed them all. Then we went into official PDI. Short one leveler not fully retracting; it too went well. They sprayed something on the leveler and it was fine. They stayed late with us. By 7:00 PM EST 11/26/19; we had the keys and 1600 miles to go to get back home with our Brand New 2019 Winnebago 29VE. My wife is still too timid to drive; so I have been driving overtime. We have driven through 6 states so far (FL, GA, AL, MS, TN, AR). Currently we are in Arkansas.

We love this RV. So glad the other deals fell through because this unit has everything we were looking for, no concessions. Only 30' 3"; Full bed with no flip up, full wall slide, prewired HDMI with splitter, Outdoor kitchen w/Stainless Steel grill included, 145 cubic feet of storage, 2 ACs and power management system.

Thus far we have spent 1 night at a Wal Mart (Daytona Beach); but we can't do that too much because my wife spent $120!!!! The Manager didn't want us to leave To my wife's defense, since we had flown in with limited carry-on items, there was a lot of stuff we needed for the RV for us to make it home. We visited relatives in Birmingham AL, so I was Cuzin Eddie and SOB at the same time. We are currently camped at private park in Arkansas. Waiting on rain to clear before heading home to Dallas. That likely will be Sunday. Can't wait to get it home and start talking about the mods or things that I may notice as issues for Mfg or Warranty.

Glad to see that it all went so well! Congratulations, and don't forget some pics of how it fits in your parking space.

We just made it home, I am wore out. You can learn a lot about a coach driving it 1500 miles across 7 states. More on the Adventures later but I did take a minute to get one picture to show how close we are to the edge of the alley. This is not the permanent spot as I have to remodel my fence and expand the driveway 13' wider. This picture shows it backed up to within 1 inch of eave over back of garage. To the right you see my 24 ft boat. Our two primary driving cars are temporarily evicted until we expand driveway. The SRX that we didn't sell for possible toad conversion is actually in garage blocked by the Sunstar. I may have to go to temp storage, but I don't want my RV at a storage facility, I want it at home where I can make it a man cave when NOT on the road.

Here is a back view. I think the pictures are proof why I am SOB and NOT a 29M owner as the 29M is not only longer at 30' 8" but add another 14" due to the ladder. It is actually even worse because the 29M's ladder is on the right side. The Sunstar 29VE is on the left side. If you look at picture you can see when driveway is extended by 13' toward the pool; the ladder on the 29VE will be away from roof. (less yard in the rear to mow is bonus )

I am loving this coach. I am so thankful that I had this site to steer me away from the previous choices; and the wisdom to trust those that have been there and done that. It took a full year, but after 5 days, 1500 miles, 7 states, I have my own new personal travel option.

@Duckface
I know you might be concerned if I have to come to Arizona for your help to install the San T Flush? This coach came with it installed You might say I flew all the way to Florida just to get a unit that had the San T Flush already installed to keep you from having to help me.

I can't thank you guys on this forum enough. Straightforward candor is what all new prospective RV Owners need, unfortunately most seem to join after the purchase and only when they have problems which in most cases is a tad too late.

That is more than close enough...
We're going to have to get ourselves some Thorforums.com "Essobee in an Essobee" Tee-Shirts!

I am junior SOB, what is "Essobee" or how do I graduate to Essobee?

Is it when I learn how to rotate that picture? I tried everything. The original I uploaded was right side up. I even took my original an incorrectly rotated 90 degrees hoping the system would rotate it back but it didn't. I guess only the drunk readers who have fallen on the floor can follow the closeness to that roof I got?

If you think that is close you should see how close that boat is around the gas meter I bought a trailer valet that moves a 5,000 pound tandem boat with ease.

Picture fixed??

It IS frustrating (and not a function of the poster's newbeness) to have pictures fall on their sides.

I always have trouble with pictures that I've taken with my phone...
And "Essobee" equals "S.O.B."
There's no such thing as a Junior version. that would be about like being only a little bit pregnant!

So "Welcome to the Club"!

Whenever anyone asks you that: always say that you were in the last one. After all: you did have the cruise control set!

Few more pictures

A lot of folks were wondering why I was dismissing some options due to ladder or 14 inches longer than what I would eventually buy.

I think these pictures will rest those questions.

The current spot is not the permanent parking spot. I intend to eventually tear down fence and extend driveway 13 feet toward the rear yard. I will replace the current gate with 11 ft sliding gate to open up more to back yard.
