Rain water leak
Just had a rain storm so went to check on MH. I have a small amount of water at the bottom right side of front slide. The slide was IN at the time of the storm.
See picture.
I am thinking this is a seal of some sort but have no idea how many seals there are to keep rain out.
Any help with where to get seals, I use Steele Rubber for my antique cars?
Which seal do I get and how difficult a job is it to replace?
2016 Thor Hurricane 35C
Thanks

Seals are an easy diy, some are supper (secondary seals) easy, they do their job when the slide is closed
You can get seals from camping world, Amazon are any RV parts dept. I just ordered 50' of 3/4" bulb 1/4" slot for our Citation.
If you order check the 3/8 or 1/4" measure carefully
There are several YouTube, you just have to find the one about your seals.
Check this one it's probably close.
The wiper seal the one that works when the slide is open will be more work to change, ours are held on with rivets lots of drilling.

There's a lot of information on here about slide leaks, including my own. It turned out to NOT be a seal. It was caulking missing along the bottom slide facia/trim. Water seeped in behind the trim piece and got under the slide... Between the plywood and covering beneath the slide. It would drip out through screw holes and drip onto the floor. A bead of caulk was all it took. Easy fix.
This type of slide leak only shows up when the slide is closed, but if you want to check it out for youself, simply open the slide, kneel underneath and have someone spray the side of the slide with water. It's pretty easy to see.
I spent days trying to find mine and working on and/or replacing various seals. Hopefully I've steered you in a direction that you won't have to.

To Miramar Owner:
If not too much trouble, could you send a pic or two of where you ran that bead of caulk?
Thanks,
Matt

If you look at the slide out... The bottom trim/facia is where it was seeping in. If you zoom in on the photo you can actually see it. I used black fex seal in a tube... It looks like a shadow. I preferred that look over shiny clear caulk.

A super heavy blowing rain storm will find its way through the slide seals occasionally. Unless things were floating around inside I would just keep an eye on that area and address it if it continues to leak...even on light/normal rain.

I had the same leak and fix. The caulking wasn't missing just poorly installed. I used ProFlex RV (FLEXIBLE) sealant, don't use silicon seal. I cleaned the facia/trim seam with isopropanol then installed the proflex. Still holding and sealing. Easy fix.

Agree with leak at slide trim. Leaks only when slide is retracted. (When slide is out the leak is external.)

I have fought a few leaks with our slides on our Miramar. It turns out that on 2 of our 3 slide awnings, Thor installed the wrong ones and they’re too short. The symptoms are similar to what the OP described, leaks at the corners when closed, so I figured I’d mention it.
Our bed slide and dinette/sofa slide awnings were both the next-smaller size (5” shorter fabric), as a result water running off the roof would catch the edge of the slide and drip onto the top seal. Since our rig usually sits slightly passenger-side and nose down on our driveway, the water would run down the top slide, find the tiniest imperfection in the seal and drip on top of the slide roof. The same thing would happen between the roof material and wiper seal and it would puddle on the roof inside the unit. Once that puddle gets big enough, it runs down the roof and drips onto the floor.
I measured our bed slide per Carefree’s instructions and ordered a new bedroom slide awning and it overhangs the flanges by about 2” on both sides and no more dripping from that one. The more expensive (mostly shipping) dinette/sofa slide awning is next.
We confirmed the issue by using a hose to cause water to run off the roof toward the dinette/sofa slide awning up and down the length, observed the water dripping onto the top seal and after a few minutes, duplicated the puddle on top of the slide roof, inside when closed. If the awning were 1-2” longer on both sides, it wouldn’t be dripping on that seal like it is.
So, check the tops of your slide to see if you find any moisture there.
Just chalk it up to unknowing/uncaring “engineers” at Thor, I guess. There’s no reason for it when Carefree’s instructions are pretty straightforward on how to size the slide awnings.
