RV Carport/Cover Companies

Hello all, we are looking to have a carport built for our RV, a class C Freedom Elite, but can't find any local companies around Colorado Springs, CO. If anybody is close and have a good recommendation, please pass it along.

Thanks!

A carport (Or "RVport"...) should be an easy job for any contractor with experience building houses, garage, or sheds...
Do you have anyone nearby that you trust?

I did check with a company that built our shed but they don't do car ports. Don't have any other contractors to lean on.

Gritz, thanks for the reference, have you used colorado car ports before?

I live in CA, and I had a 18’ x 30’ RV port built at my home.
It’s 13’ in the center and 11.5’ on each side.
I also have sidewalls on each side to block the “side sun”, but no front or back enclosure.
My installed price in Sep-2018 was $3300 (cash, no tax).

The CO company has a similar size for $3700 (shorter and no side walls)

This is how I got mine when I wanted one:

Craigslist:
"Wanted: 10x30 (or close to it) carport. I'll remove it within a day of you contacting me. You tell me your price." I included a picture of the metal pole type I was looking for.

I had FIVE people offer them to me for free.
I gave the guy 300 bucks (because I wasn't going to take it for free) and he gave me all the time I wanted to move it.
90 minute tear down, about 4 hour rebuild(with WEEKS in between... I didn't expect to land one so quickly.)
If you can't do the labor hire day labor and buy a screw gun... Done.

I had to do it this way because the county had scared the installers about licensing and permits and no one would install a new one.

But you were far too vague in what you want as a carport for me to avail you based on anything but guessing you mean a metal standalone like I placed the adv looking for.

I think I was raised to believe a carport is any structure open ended without a door and which a vehicle will fit in.

Stick built, concrete block, lean-to, metal, roof only? What do you want?

How do you know your zoning allows any structure?

Maybe if you tell us what it is you want....

As an aside:
The city decided to give me some crap about it because, for the reason I asked you about zoning, the tin carports had been deemed to be out of code.
I explained it wasn't a new structure and was installed before the ban, just moved by me. They got pissy. I explained how I would put a set of torsion axle under it, 30 bucks worth of lights, license it as a trailer and leave it parked in the street forever with an explanation of how to register it as a trailer and park it in your yard, painted on the side. They backed off. It's still standing at the house we sold.

Punchline:
I think you're a far fair can of worms away from having any structure.

No...I'm in Atlanta, GA and ordered mine from here...they're all the same as long as you verify post sizes and metal gauges. Mine came out of South Carolina, is 18' wide and 40' long with a center height of 14'. Wide enough to open both slides.

I built one about 5 years back, a contractor did the the roof and I added sides, I built it for a 30' Gulstream originally, so, there's plenty of room for our Vegas. It's withstood some pretty high winds and a load of rain, being in Ireland, I think getting an RV covered is pretty essential.
