Refrigerator Power

Just thought I would share this. We have been having problems off and on with the power to the refrigerator in our 2017 Windsport 31s. After checking the power to the back of the fridge, the cabin battery, fuse and breaker I realized that I had turned off the water pump when I hooked up to city water. I switched it back on and the fridge immediately came back on. Is this by design, or just a special feature in our unit?

Pretty much what I figured. The owners manual tells us not to run the pump when hooked up to city water. I am wondering if leaving the pump on will cause damage or just pull from the fresh tank instead of the city water. We've been running the water but the fresh tank is staying full.
