Activating stabilizers

I have a 2022 Thor Quantum DS24. According to the manual, you are supposed to activate the rear stabilizers before you extend the two slideouts. The stabilizers will automatically retract back up if you start the engine. On my RV you have to start the engine in order to extend the slideouts. The slideouts will not extend unless the engine is running. Once you start the engine the stabilizers close up! So I have been extending the slideouts and then doing the stabilizers. I don't see any other way to do this. Comments? Suggestions?

Generally, auto retract works when the vehicle is in gear and the parking brake is released. Are you setting the parking brake?

Sounds like a catch-22 black hole... But sounds like you're getting it to work. Just be sure you're level before extending the slide. Then extend your slide, shut off the engine and drop your stabilizers... done!

Sounds like the safety switch is not working when the parking brake is set. When the parking brake is set, the switch is supposed to allow the levelers / stabilizers to extend while the engine is running.

In the event someone forgets to raise the levelers and is going to drive away.... when the parking brake is released, the safety switch is open and the levelers raise automatically.

Probably going to require a trip to the dealer. I'm not familiar with the Sprinter. If it has a pedal parking brake, you may be able to look up under the dash to see if the wiring harness is plugged into the switch (assuming they are using a mechanical safety switch at the top of the parking brake and not actually wired to read the ECU that the parking brake light is illuminated).
