Reinstalling doghouse

I recently took off my doghouse on my 2016 Axis 24.1 to see what insulation it had. It was virtually none - there were 2 small pads on the engine. I’ll have to insulate the doghouse.

My question has to do with the 2 big screws/bolts that hold the doghouse on the floor In front. They were tightly screwed in when I removed it but did not tighten up when I reinstalled it. I looked under the Axis but there were no nuts that had fallen. Has anyone run into this problem and what’s the fix.

I would consider 1/4-20 captive nuts on the bottom of the floor.

They self install by tightening the bolt.

The screws were installed for economy and are not the best fastener for the cover.

I’ll usually place a small shim inside the stripped hole

I used to(maybe still do) have some lightweight window screen like patches you wrapped around the screw threads to retread a stripped screw hole.

I now wrap a wire into the screws threads and then screw the screw in to do a reseat.sometimes it goes right in, sometimes it really jacks with me. Solder works well.
