Replace tv's

We plan to replace the cheap standard flat screens on our Freedom Elite. One 40" inside and one 32" in outside ent. center. Want to get "smart" tv's that could handle Roku. Any suggestions on brand, model, price?

Don't get smart TVs that can handle ROKU. Get ROKU TVs (made by several manufacturers).

"Why?" you may ask.

Because of the built-in TV Guide.

Finally, a TV with an OTA channel guide similar to what you have come to expect on your cable or satellite system. If it's connected to the network and you set the local zipcode in the settings then a push of the left arrow button on your TOKU remote gets you a full featured channel guide. I've got two of them in my coach now.

I second the Roku TVs. I have an Android TV in the living room and it aggravated me so much it now has a Roku plugged into it.

We recently purchased this 43" 4K TCL Roku TV for our bedroom and it is fantastic. Stick a thumb drive in it and you can pause and rewind live TV. It's only 220.00 on Amazon right now! Tempted to buy another for the RV.

I switched from Samsung to TCL with built in ROKU. I use Hulu Live on ROKU and one tiny remote for everything. Purchase @ Costco, Best-buy etc. TCL now second most popular TV sold. Great value.

I replaced mine with a Fire TV. We love the Firestick (non-jail broken)

Fire Stick here as well. We use TOGO wifi, Fire Stick and Sling Box. We watch anything and everything from our home cable, even recorded shows as well as Netflix, Amazon, etc. Just keeping it simple, works on any TV.

I was thinking about Togo but I have an old tablet that I use for Torque and a secondary nav.

Has a hotspot function. Installing a signal booster today. Using that in conjunction with the the not so hot but sometimes okay WiFi Ranger which came with ours.

Cornfused

I'm a "Gear head" not a "Techie". So what's the difference between a "fire stick" and "ROKU stick"?
We will be at an RV resort in Yuma for two months buying wifi from "TengoInternet" or "Airbeam_WiFi_2GE" I believe it was. We have a Fire stick for our stick/brick house. Will it work ok with either of these service providers?
OH, and we have to pay for each device we want to have internet. That could start to ad up.

We use fire stick almost exclusively when traveling. If you have an internet connection, fire stick will work. As I said in the previous post, we installed TOGO for internet, unlimited data for $360 per year. We never worry about campground wifi or paying for internet service from third party providers. If you use your RV often, you might want to consider TOGO. But do think about whether the benefits outweigh the cost, $365 for TOGO antenna plus $360 per year for AT&T service. Also consider whether you have good service from AT&T in your primary travel area.

I just bought a 40" Vizio smart TV at Best Buy for $229. I haven't installed it yet though.

Thanks. We use Verizon and they seem to have the best coverage here in Washington. Last year we used our phones a hotspot at one park, then bought park internet in the other.

With the ROKU tvs do you still need to do a channel search with every new location? Wondering how long it takes you? Our crappy Thor, Seiki tvs take 10 minutes or more.

JKConey We just purchased 2 TCL Roku tv's (thanks for all the recommendations), but haven't had them installed yet. I feel your pain with the Seikis. Not sure if we'll have to do a channel search when hooked to the antenna or not, but I have to believe a smart tv is much faster. Will post our findings as soon as we're out again.

I couldn’t stand the Seiki (sp) tv’s that came with our WindSport. Changed out all 3 with 32” Vizio’s. Great match, Smart and great pictures.
Hope it helps and best of luck.
